It was truly enjoyable and memorable. The session was well structured and very beginner-friendly, making it easy to understand the batik process from start to finish. The instructors were patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about batik. They clearly explained each step—from sketching the motif, using the canting with hot wax, to the coloring process—while also sharing insights into the cultural meaning behind batik patterns. The atmosphere was relaxed and inspiring, allowing me to fully enjoy the creative process without feeling rushed. It was incredibly satisfying to create my own batik piece and bring home something handmade with personal meaning. I would highly recommend this batik lesson to anyone looking for an authentic, hands-on cultural experience in Yogyakarta.

Amazing experience here! We learned about the batik technique and how wax is used in the process. The people were so nice and passionate about their work! You can get a free tour of the place with detailed explanations and then visit the shop if you’d like to buy something. They don’t pressure you to buy anything; it’s completely up to you. I strongly recommend visiting this place!

We had an amazing time at this gallery. We were explained and showed all the steps to make Batik art at no charge. The art gallery contains beautiful art and it is also possible to buy Batik pottery pieces. We also tried coffee grains from indonesien volcanoes.

What an amazing day! We did a batik and cooking class, got to learn all about the art of batik making and then make our own pieces, and then learned to make 2 delicious dishes, tempe and pepes ikan. Teacher Hanung is also just an incredibly nice, interesting and knowledgeable guy and we stayed behind chatting for a long while after the class. It really was a lovely day, and I highly recommend it 😊

We did a batik and cooking workshop here and it was the best day. Hanung and his colleagues talked us through the process of Batik, until we were able to design our own. Midway through the day we did a cooking class while our batik dried, and sat down to have lunch before returning to finish our batik. Everyone was so kind and helpful and encouraging. We also had a wander around the village and Hanung showed us lots of different plants and things that grow nearby that are used in local dishes. Very grateful for the incredible artistic talent of our teachers, and also appreciative of the fact they explained it all in their second language. Thank you! There were sing songs and snacks and it was an experience I’ll never forget! Thank you. ⭐️
