Very nice soto ayam, fresh and delicious. The chicken served at the table even more delicious, soft and tender. Ambience is vintage style as ordinary Jogja. There are some improvement needs for services, hard to even placing order, not proactive waitress and they only accept cash.
View on GoogleI visited Soto Kadipiro on Jalan Wates after hearing so many recommendations. The soto truly has its own identity. The broth is unique and different from most soto in Indonesia, which makes it worth trying at least once. The restaurant itself feels authentic. I really liked seeing the old-style wooden benches that have probably been there for decades. They add character and remind visitors of the restaurant's long history. The dining area was reasonably clean, although not spotless. One thing that concerned me was the food handling. I noticed the staff picking up food with bare hands after also handling cash. Since paper money can carry dirt and bacteria, using tongs or disposable gloves would improve hygiene and give customers more confidence. Another small observation is the parking attendants. They did their job, but the overall authentic Yogyakarta atmosphere felt slightly reduced because not all of them reflected the local character that many visitors expect from such a legendary place. Payment is another area that could be improved. Cash is the only option, which may be inconvenient for customers who are used to paying with QRIS or other digital payment methods. I also found the billing system interesting. The staff still calculates the order manually using a small piece of paper, which is quite nostalgic. However, my bill for two bowls of soto, two glasses of tea, and two fried snacks came to IDR 73,000, and I wasn't completely convinced the calculation was correct. It may have been an honest mistake, but a clearer and more transparent pricing system would certainly help. Overall, Soto Kadipiro offers a unique taste and a nostalgic atmosphere that food lovers should experience. However, improvements in hygiene, digital payment options, and billing accuracy would make the experience much better. If you're someone who always looks for the best value for money, this may not be your first choice.
View on GoogleSeveral times visited this legendary soto place in Yogyakarya. The taste, the atmosphere are original and so simple, and they still only can accepted cash payment. So for large groups please prepare enough cash to eat here.
View on GoogleI ordered the chicken soto, and it tasted great! Highly recommended for those looking for breakfast. However, the car parking area was full.
View on GoogleCame here right after arriving in Jogja. The soup (soto) was clean but rich. I thought it was a small portion, but da*n I was so full. The vibe was very much like old Javanese tavern. The building is old too so very enjoyable to hangout here especially when you're in Jogja. I'm coming back for sure!
