This is the nearest babi panggang resto i can find from my hotel. Recommended by some people I met on the street, I think locals. The portion is a lot. The texture is nice.

You can try Batak food for the experience but I’m not impressed by the cuisine especially their roast or fried pork. Cooking method is rudimentary. Chinese char siew and roast pork belly taste way better. Accompanying sauces are all mediocre - no kick. Also the food here is crazy expensive by local standards. For example a fried chicken drumstick (not the whole thigh) cost Rp25000! Their menu doesn’t state the price so you may get a shock when the bill arrives. Fried chicken 👍 Ikan mas arsik 🫲 Full of fine bones. Saksang 🫲 Salty taucheo taste. Roasted petai 🫲 Grilled eggplant 👎 Babi pangang 👎 Hard and dry. Babi goreng 👎 Mee hoon goreng 👎 Very salty.

Love the roasted pork, rica pork (you can choose non spicy), and fried pork all are delicious. The price is also reasonable for the portion served. Bought it for takeout

Nasi Babi panggang: IDR 50k es teh tawar: IDR 13k Total: IDR 63k First off, a glass of tea in Indonesia normally costs around 3-4k but at this restaurant it's 3 or 4 times higher than the average price but the quality is the same. The babi or pork was dry and blend, tasteless, it begged for some salt. In the plate were: 1 slice of cucumber and 1 slice of tomato. I mean: how much does a cucumber cost that you can't even put 3 slices on a plate??? I do not recommend

Lomak isn’t just a meal—it’s a Batak food party on your plate. Swung by to put our tastebuds to test on local Batak cuisine. First visit, we tried their jus Martabe (tamarillo + passionfruit juice) —tangy, fresh, and a total wake-up call for the tastebuds. Paired it with meehoon goreng, which was filled with vegetables and fatty pork pieces (for the oil and taste),savoury, and on the wet end; not a definite favourite. Since it was by recommendation. We came back later at night to try arsik (that rich, spiced golden fish) (IDR45,000) and babi panggang with rice. It came with a free soup that helped sizzle the spice away. The babi panggang (IDR45,000) was the highlight with its salty crisp skin and juicy meat with lemon squeezed over and a hot kick from the chillies, which was perfect with warm white rice. Washed it all down with a cold Badak (IDR12,000) , the local sarsi-style soft drink. Sweet, fizzy, and just the right nostalgic kick. iced Jus Alpukat was thick and creamy as usual (IDR25,000) Note: If you are an adventurous foodie, they do serve saksang on the menu - a savoury Batak dish made from minced meat, stewed in its blood, coconut milk and a mix of spices. Note: cash only #batakfood #laketobaadventure #samosir #lomak #laketoba #travellaketoba
