A family-run restaurant. We tried the fried chicken and BBQ (grilled) chicken with potato chips, and both tasted good. The chicken portions were a bit small, but what made the dishes unique was that they were served with sambal and sweet soy sauce. The tamarillo juice was refreshing. The mixed vegetables (cap chai) is too salty and the portion is small.
View on GoogleWe came to Leo's last night and had some really great BBQ fish! Leo, and his family are all so friendly and welcoming. We will definitely return next time we visit! Thank you!!
View on GoogleI travel independently across multiple countries and one of the main reasons I travel is to experience local cuisine. I eat in street food stalls, local warungs, markets, and restaurants of all levels. This was, without exaggeration, one of the worst food experiences of my life. I ordered a fried fish. Visually, the dish looked fine. However, the moment I took the first bite, I had to stop immediately. The taste was absolutely disgusting — strong flavors of mud, diesel fuel, mold, damp cellar and rotten earth. The fish tasted spoiled and completely inedible. I could not swallow it and left the dish after a single bite. I addressed the issue with the staff right away. To be fair, they were polite, apologized, and did not charge me for the dish, which I appreciate. That said, serving food of this quality should never happen, especially in a restaurant with such a high Google rating, which I honestly cannot understand after this experience. Another serious issue is the misleading pricing. The restaurant presents itself as low-cost, but fish prices are listed per 100 grams, which results in a final bill equal to or higher than in much better restaurants. Additionally, the 10% government tax is not clearly displayed — it is written in very small print, easy to miss, which feels intentionally misleading. Overall, I left deeply disappointed and honestly shocked. I have eaten local food all over the world and never experienced something this bad. High ratings here are extremely misleading.
View on GoogleFollowing the good reviews on Google, we went to Leo's restaurant. So far, in Indonesia, we were surprised by Asian, fresh and well-spiced cuisine. Today, our taste buds collided with average dishes. The grilled fish was dry. The second fish in sweet and sour sauce was simply tasteless. The sauce tasted like it was ready from a jar. In addition, there was a salad that tastes and looks like coleslaw. Maybe this is what local cuisine looks like. It did not suit our taste.
View on GoogleCozy dining place, great Bataknese food with a Dutch menu options, nice collections of liquors. Friendly owner and reasonable price.
