Really worth the visit. You need to climb/walk uphill about 100m, which takes about 10 minutes. There's a nice view of Danau Toba on one side and a local village on the other. It's best to get a professional drone photographer to capture this once-in-a-lifetime moment.
View on GoogleBukit Holbung offers a stunning 360-degree panoramic view. From the top of the hill, visitors can enjoy sweeping scenery of Lake Toba, rolling green hills, the distant Sibea-bea Statue, and even nearby waterfall areas. Almost every corner is photo-worthy because the landscape is wide open and naturally beautiful. The air feels cool and fresh, and the atmosphere remains peaceful and natural. The best time to visit is in the morning or late afternoon when the weather is more comfortable and the lighting is perfect for photos. One downside is the uphill trekking route, which can be quite tiring and is not very friendly for elderly visitors or people with disabilities. However, motorcycle taxi services are available for those who prefer not to walk all the way up. Overall, Bukit Holbung is highly recommended for nature lovers and anyone looking to experience one of the best elevated views of Lake Toba.

View on GoogleIf you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to hike through a Windows XP wallpaper, Bukit Holbung is your answer. This hill, affectionately dubbed the “Hill of Happiness,” offers a 30-minute trek that’s more of a gentle stroll than a gruelling climb. Just watch out for the occasional goat judging your pace. At the summit, you’re rewarded with panoramic views of Lake Toba, rolling green hills, and a breeze that whispers, “You should’ve brought a kite.” It’s the kind of place where your phone’s camera roll goes from zero to hero in minutes. Facilities are minimal, so bring your own snacks, water, and existential questions. And remember, the only thing more breathtaking than the view is the realisation that you have to walk back down. Verdict: A scenic escape that’s equal parts Instagrammable and introspective. Just don’t forget your sense of humour, or your sunscreen.
