Our group visited Ucok Durian at around 11 PM, and I was surprised to see how lively the place still was. Even late at night, there were plenty of fresh durians to choose from, so we had no trouble finding the ones we liked. What really stood out was the service. The staff were friendly, experienced, and very confident in helping us pick good-quality durians. One of the durians we opened wasn't as good as expected, but they immediately replaced it without any argument. That level of customer service made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The atmosphere was fun, especially when sharing durians with friends. With such a huge selection of fruit and a customer-first approach, it's easy to see why this place is so popular. If you're in Medan and want to enjoy fresh durian without worrying about quality, Ucok Durian is definitely worth a visit.
View on GoogleI accompanied a friend who was craving durian (unfortunately, I’m not a durian fan myself 😅), and I can see why this place is so well-known in Medan. We sat in the outdoor area. I’m not entirely sure whether there is an indoor section, though I would assume there is. One thing that caught my attention was the wall displaying photos of notable visitors who have stopped by over the years. The service was excellent. The staff asked about our preferences and how many durians we wanted, then recommended a few options and clearly explained the price range for each variety. The prices were quite reasonable as well. They provide disposable plastic gloves, which is a thoughtful touch. What impressed me most was how proactive the staff were—they noticed when we needed help opening the durian and immediately assisted us without us even having to ask. There was also a trash bin conveniently placed under the table, making the whole experience much more comfortable and practical. Parking is available in front of the venue. If I remember correctly, it may be a paid parking area. Overall, a great place to enjoy durian, especially if you’re looking for attentive service and a hassle-free experience. Even as someone who doesn’t personally enjoy durian, I could appreciate the level of service and the care they put into the customer experience. PS: While I can’t personally comment on the taste of the durian, my friend seemed satisfied with the visit.
View on GoogleRp150k for one medium-sized kampung durian? ? Look at the picture, if that looks like it’s worth Rp150k to you. I dont know if locals are charged this price as well, when they have 4-5 durians on their table, if so they must be very rich locals (or suckers) neither of which I believe to be the case. More likely i was over-charged simply based on my looks. No price signs or weighing scales around btw. Therefore no way to argue if you only pay after eating. This is a simply ordinary kampung non-pedigree durian with thin flesh and big seed which i used to eat 30 yrs ago, sells for few ringgit at most at roadside stalls in Malaysia, and probably not fit for sale in SG. By comparison even in an expensive city like SG which imports all its fruit you can get a whole premium Red Prawn durian for that price. In a setting like this I was expecting Rp50-60k. Which would be generous tbh. I have also eaten Indo Musang King from Tanjung Pinang, so i’m not a newbie to either durians, or Indonesian prices for durians. So it might have been funny to charge me Rp150k for that, clapping themselves on the back, but guess what- I’m just going to tell people the truth about this place. If you have ever eaten Malaysian durians dont waste your time, period. Don’t need to say much about it. Save your stomach for any manner of delicious food in Medan (150k can buy you a full luxurious dinner at the top restaurant in Medan) If you are a durian novice as well don’t bother because i’m telling you it is way too pricey and overrated, for something so mediocre. If u are curious about Ucok Durian like I was, reading those glowing google reviews, Medan must try etc.. I can report that this is a TOURIST TRAP Sorry but this is not Medan MUST TRY - More like MUST AVOID 👎
