Tjong A Fie Mansion is one of the most fascinating heritage attractions in Medan and a must-visit for anyone interested in history, architecture, and local culture. The mansion is well preserved, with many original rooms, antique furniture, and beautiful Chinese-European architectural details that transport visitors back over a century. The staff and guides are friendly and provide interesting stories about Tjong A Fie and his contributions to Medan's development. The building is clean, well maintained, and offers plenty of great photo opportunities while maintaining its historical atmosphere. If you're visiting Medan, I highly recommend adding Tjong A Fie Mansion to your itinerary. It provides a unique glimpse into the city's multicultural past and is one of the best cultural tourism destinations in North Sumatra
View on GoogleIt’s a very beautiful mansion in Medan. 🎫 The ticket price is fair enough. 🏠 The environment is very clean and well maintained, some room still in under maintenance. Also good for taking pictures. ❓not everything in this mansion paired with a introductions board, you need to discover every detail with your eyes. I also noticed the staff started to add a Chinese translation at the introduction board, very impressive. 🥲 The mansion inside turns very hot when 12pm++ . Very less souvenirs sell in this place, I hope they can add something like postcards or fridge magnets of this mansion.
View on GoogleThe Tjong A Fie Mansion is a well-preserved historical residence in Medan that has been converted into a museum. It was formerly the home of Tjong A Fie, a prominent Chinese-Indonesian businessman and philanthropist who played a key role in the city’s early development. The mansion is notable for its architectural style, which combines Chinese, Malay, and European influences. Its interior features antique furnishings, detailed woodwork, and historical photographs that reflect both the family’s legacy and the broader multicultural context of Medan during that period. Visitors can explore various rooms as well as the central courtyard, which highlights the building’s layout and design. The site is also suitable for photography, with natural lighting, patterned tiles, and decorative props that provide visually appealing photos. Tour guides are available on-site. These helpful guides can provide more detailed background on the history of the mansion and its former occupants. Overall, it is a worthwhile stop for visitors interested in heritage beyond the city’s culinary and natural attractions.
