Food was great, but the service was a complete disaster. We were one of only two seated tables in the entire place (aside from a few coffee orders), yet it took over an hour for our food to arrive. To make matters worse, the staff brought food out to our table 3 or 4 separate times, only to realize it wasn’t ours and take it back. It’s frustrating when the kitchen clearly knows how to cook good food, but the front-of-house management and coordination are this severely broken. Unacceptable wait times for a virtually empty restaurant and basic order-tracking issues need to be fixed immediately.

The restaurant is beautifully designed and has a very tasteful interior. The staff serving us upstairs were extremely attentive, friendly, and genuinely tried to provide good service. Overall, the café has a lot of potential, and we were satisfied with the rest of the food. Unfortunately, there was an issue with the cassava. The first portion had a very noticeable taste of perfume. Four people from our group tried it immediately after it was served, and all independently noticed the same thing. We sent it back and asked for a new portion. Unfortunately, the second portion also tasted strongly of perfume, so we sent that one back as well. What was particularly disappointing was how our complaint was handled at the cashier. We were still charged the full price for the dish. We were then told that the perfume taste might have come from perfume on our own hands. We can definitely rule that out. Four different people tried the dish immediately after it arrived at the table, and everyone noticed the same unusual taste. For us, this is not about the price of one portion of cassava. It is about how a legitimate customer complaint is handled. While the staff upstairs were genuinely attentive and helpful, at the cashier we did not feel there was any real effort to find a customer-oriented solution or make sure we left satisfied. In addition, a fairly substantial tip/service charge was automatically added to our bill. After the way our complaint had been handled, we would have consciously chosen not to leave a tip in this situation. Having an additional tip or service charge automatically added to the bill only made the experience more frustrating. Ultimately, it was the combination of these things that became a deal-breaker for us: being charged for a dish that we had returned twice because something was clearly wrong with the taste, then being indirectly blamed for the problem ourselves, and finally having to pay an automatic tip/service charge on top of that. We had actually planned to return with a group of around 30 people for a meal, but after this experience, we decided to cancel those plans. It is a real shame because the café is beautiful, the staff upstairs were very attentive, and the concept has a lot of potential. But good service is especially important when something goes wrong. With a little flexibility and a more customer-oriented approach, this issue could have been resolved immediately. Unfortunately, this is how businesses lose customers who would otherwise have been happy to return.

I'm pretty sure I got food poisoned here. It must have been the mocktail since that's the only thing my wife and I had in common and we had the exact same issues at the exact same time after we left and went back to our hotel. This was pretty terrible because the day after we were supposed to leave and catch our plane but that got all wasted because we got terribly sick. We were always quite careful on what we ate and drink and didn't expect this. I suspect it's the chia seeds put in bad water or something.
