A beautiful and peaceful place to visit. Over 100 ancient menhirs stand across the ceremonial field, each one raised for a Torajan funeral rite rather than for decoration. It’s much quieter than some of the more touristy Toraja sites, so you can take your time reading the stones and taking in the surrounding rice fields and mountains. Well worth the short (and stunning, if bumpy) trip out from Rantepao.
View on GoogleOne of my first stops in Tana Toraja! Despite the rain and the small crowd, I thoroughly enjoyed the trip. The receptionist at the entrance post was super friendly and informative about Bori Kalimbu'ang. With ancient megaliths standing strong and beautiful alongside traditional tongkonan, it makes for an amazing tourist spot. Higher up, magnificent yet quiet stone graves add to the serene, chilly atmosphere. I didn't go all the way up, as I heard about the Baby Grave Tree—a sacred tree where deceased infants were buried, believed to nourish them with its sap/milk. All in all, at just IDR 20k per entry, it's definitely a must-visit!
View on GoogleIt is a must visit. The location is easy to access. There is no designated parking spot. Visitors can just park along the street in front of villagers house. In front of this place, there is a small shop selling coffee. The place is quiet, unfortunately found trash scattered. Sadly, visitors are littering on this place.
View on GoogleIt was very hot when I came. But I really enjoy spending time here, if only it wasn't that hot that day, I could spend longer here. There was so many historical stuff that we can see. The entrance fee was cheap. I saw some foreign tourists visited this place, they have another thing that we can check but I forgot the name but overall worth it!
View on Google(05/2025) This is a very interesting place and an active burial site. For 35K, you can see several monoliths, traditional houses, and rock graves. It’s much larger than it first appears. The surroundings are beautiful, with rice fields all around. It takes just under 30 minutes from Rantepao by scooter on a rough road.
