it's one of the oldest restaurant selling coto makassar, a traditional beef stew from the city of makassar. they said the place has been cooking since 1950. it's located near the port of makassar, right in front of the main street. to be fair, the soup here is very dark in color. i believe it comes from the richness of toasted peanut since you can taste the strong flavor of peanut. the flavor is rather bland at first so you definitely need to adjust with the seasoning on the table. i would suggest you put salt, chili sambal, lime, sweet soy sauce, and fried shallots to enhance the flavor. you need to figure out the right amount of seasoning to your liking. the beef is tender. the price shown on the menu is before the 10 percent tax. you can pay using cash or qr code here.
View on Googlenobody really wants to serve me when I arrived. I had to find someone to order the food. maybe they only serve certain race of people. I'm not sure. Having travelled extensively in Asia,I can say that Makassar food in general has mild taste including this coto. The meat and inerds were hard and chewy. I can't really taste the spices, same with other Makassar foods. For the price and portion, it's consider expensive for Indonesia standard. Overrated culinary. Honest review.
View on GoogleServes a classic, authentic taste of Coto Makassar. The broth is light yet rich in spices, making every spoonful warm and flavorful. Generous portions of meat and offal are perfectly paired with soft, chewy ketupat. The place is clean, service is fast, and the location is very strategic. One word: unmissable!
View on GoogleAs a born and bred here in Makassar, this is the first time I tried this super famous cotto in town after 30+ years of my life. Lol. I must say, a bit disappointed. More like I expect them to be the best but turned out I've tasted better. In other town. But yeah, they definitely good.
View on GoogleThis was my first time visiting Coto Nusantara, but as soon as I arrived, I could tell it’s a legendary spot in Makassar, especially for Coto. The Coto tasted absolutely perfect, the herbs and spices were spot on. Every bite was flavorful and satisfying. I already can’t wait to visit Makassar again just to have this Coto! Highly recommend this place if you’re in town and want to try authentic Makassar cuisine.
