Food is not great, service time is more than 30 minutes for just one drink, super slow response. Nice outdoors

This building, possibly from the late colonial era, had been vacant for a long time and would make a great venue, it even has a lot of off street parking!. But... My visit gave the impression that renovation OR development of the site was incomplete. I also got the impression that many of the staff were very new to the cafe/restaurant trade. The "garden" area was not used the night I visited. I say "garden" as their are no plants, which would be a nice feature to have in a garden. The interior rooms where furnished with cheap chairs and tables not fitting the look of the exterior or even the intended feeling of a venue called The White House. Walls were bare and the floor was tiled, meaning the rooms quickly become noisey. Conversation was difficult. I recommend more soft furnishings, thick curtains on walls, framed pictures of the buildings heritage. Perhaps a display of objects/stuff from the past as conversation pieces. Lose the TV on the wall, it's such a cheap look. Divide spaces for different functions. The front canteen area is too large. Unless there are 50 people it looks empty. Remove 1/3rd of the seating and put in a water feature with plants. The wash up area for patrons was ugly to look at and should be screened. Make it look nice. The food was poor to average. Presentation needs work. Not every dish should have chilli! Get staff that don't give the impression that this is a hobby, and friends if management should not be walking around flicking cigarette ash. Is it The White House or A White House?
