The chicken satay at Sate Ayam Ponorogo Pak Seger was enjoyable, and the portion felt fair for the price. Garang asem was a bit underwhelming for me since it could have used more spice and a stronger sour kick. Still, as a casual meal, it was decent and worth trying if you’re in the mood for Ponorogo-style satay.

I have visited Sate Ayam Ponorogo Pak Seger more than once, and honestly, if I had to describe this place with just one word, it would be delicious. The food is clearly the main reason why people keep coming back, including myself. The chicken sate is very well prepared. The skewers are generous in size, with a good amount of meat on each one, and what I really like is that they use clean chicken breast only, not mixed cuts. The chicken is tender, juicy, and grilled properly without becoming dry. The peanut sauce is rich, flavorful, and pairs perfectly with the chicken. Overall, the taste is consistently excellent, and everything related to the food feels well done. The prices are reasonable, ranging from good to average, and fair for the portion size and quality. Unfortunately, the biggest downside of this place is the restaurant itself. The location feels very old and badly needs renovation. Cleanliness is a serious issue, the lighting is extremely poor, and on more than one occasion I have seen rats inside the restaurant, which is honestly disturbing and unacceptable. Another point worth mentioning is the music. The songs they play are very loud and extremely annoying, to the point where it can actually cause a headache and make it hard to enjoy the meal. With proper renovation, better lighting, improved cleanliness, and more attention to the overall dining environment, this place could become something completely different. Despite all these issues, I still recommend trying it because the sate itself is genuinely delicious and truly worth it.

Tried gule kambing - 5 skewers of sate kambing. Average taste. Sate was tough & hard to chew. Gule was ok but the soup not enough spices. Bit pricy though. 1 sate is Rp.10k and gule kambing was 50k.

they sell chicken, and goat satay. for the chicken one, you can choose whether it's only meat, skin, liver, or the mix of them. the meat is in big cuts. compared to other chicken satay, this one has a very smooth peanut sauce. it's as smooth as the one found in gado-gado, or ketoprak. whereas, most chicken satay usually still has chunks of peanuts. nevertheless, the taste is good. you may want to add sweet soy sauce to enrich the flavor. the place is quite spacious. it's not too crowded. it's open since early morning to late at night. for the payment, you can use cash or bank transfer.

This place offers several kinds of satay, like chicken satay, lamb satay, and chicken skin satay. It's popular around here, and it's quite crowded during lunch. The taste is great.
