Visited this cool place with my friends who are part of Google Local Guides from Indonesia. It's super important in Indonesia's history because it's where Mr. Soekarno, the Father of the Nation, was born. The historical house is really close to the HOS Tjokroaminoto museum, in a neighborhood. When we arrived, there was a sign with a signboard of this historical place, but we had to walk a bit through the nice and clean neighborhood. Soekarno's birthplace wasn't huge, just like a regular house with three rooms. But it's nicely decorated inside with photographs and information about Soekarno's history and family, and there's even a room with augmented reality. The person there explained so nicely about Soekarno's history , it's a fantastic place for tourists and kids interested in history. Also, the entrance is partly ♿accessible for people with different abilities.

View on GoogleTempat Kelahiran Soekarno – A Humble Beginning of a Great Leader Visiting the birthplace of Soekarno in Surabaya offers a powerful and humbling experience. This historic site is far more than just a house—it is the cradle of Indonesia’s independence, where the story of its first president and Proclamator began. For anyone interested in the roots of Indonesia’s national identity, this location is a must-visit. The house itself is simple, yet dignified, reflecting the humble origins of a man who would grow to become one of the most influential figures in Southeast Asia. The traditional Javanese architecture has been well preserved, maintaining its authenticity while also being accessible to modern visitors. Walking through the rooms where Soekarno once lived brings a sense of closeness to history that’s hard to replicate elsewhere. Inside, visitors will find a number of historical artifacts—photos, personal items, and family mementos—that give insight into Soekarno’s early life and the environment that shaped his values and vision. There is a quiet, reverent atmosphere throughout the home, allowing visitors to reflect on how these modest beginnings produced a leader who would later challenge colonial powers and inspire a nation. The museum guides are another highlight. Passionate and well-informed, they tell stories with pride and clarity, making history come alive. Their explanations provide deeper meaning to the significance of each room, object, and event tied to Soekarno’s youth. Perhaps the most moving part of the visit is simply standing where Soekarno was born, realizing that even the most transformative figures often come from the simplest of places. The experience is a reminder of how determination, education, and vision can transcend humble beginnings. In short, Tempat Kelahiran Soekarno is not just a historical site—it’s a symbol of hope and national pride. It’s an enriching destination for students, history lovers, and anyone who wants to better understand the soul of Indonesia.
