Museum Pendidikan Surabaya offers an interesting glimpse into the history of education in the city, with a variety of exhibits showcasing old school equipment, uniforms and documents. However, some of the exhibit materials appear worn and could benefit from better upkeep or restoration. The layout is reasonably informative, though a few areas felt underdeveloped, making it a decent visit overall but with clear room for improvement. Ticket price Rp5,000 for local and Rp15,000 for foreigners.
View on GoogleVisited Museum Pendidikan Surabaya, a thematic museum located in the former Taman Siswa School building on Genteng Kali Street, Surabaya. It showcases the history of education in Indonesia, ranging from prehistoric times to the independence era — including traditional writing tools, old diplomas, manuscripts, and replica classrooms. It was quite interesting to see how books and learning materials evolved, from the Dutch colonial era until today. Overall, a good experience and also quite refreshing to visit since it’s a relatively new museum. The space is a bit small and the presentation could be more interactive, but still worth visiting to learn about the educational journey in Indonesia.
View on GoogleExploring the Museum Pendidikan Surabaya was a journey back in time to the roots of educational heritage in Indonesia. Each exhibit unfolds a story, showcasing the evolution of learning, teaching methods, and scholarly achievements. It's not just a museum; it's a tribute to the educators and students who've shaped the nation's intellect. A must-visit for anyone passionate about history and education.
View on GoogleRecommended for a quick look around right in the middle of Surabaya. A pretty humble collection of objects mostly from post independence that serves as a gateway for the complex history of Indonesian education. There's also a very-well-maintained riverside park right next to the museum. Entrance was free, you just need to fill out an online form. It was absolutely empty besides us three visiting during a weekday morning.
View on GoogleCan't believe Surabaya has aesthetic museum like this! This is a new museum in Surabaya, just opened in November 2019. Like other museums, it shows how education in Indonesia developing from pre-historic period until now. But more special, it's really well designed for aesthetic-clean-enthusiast-eyes. Free entry, very clean and cozy, you can take a picture as much as you want *but still, please respect others who wants enjoy the museum as it is a place to learn and get more knowledge. I hope all visitors keep this place clean, bring your trash home, don't leave your footprints on the white wall while you taking a pic. Enjoy and get more knowledge here!
