Visited Kopitiam Kapuas Hulu around 4 PM for a quick afternoon snack and ended up exploring their intriguing menu. The "Teh Tarik" is a standout – a must-order for any teh tarik enthusiast. It’s perfectly pulled, delivering an authentic taste that’s hard to find. The "Roti Srikaya" was just okay. The srikaya jam had a bright orange color, indicative of mass-produced varieties. I wish I had noticed the butter srikaya option beforehand, as it might offer a more complex flavor. The "Chicken Charsiu" is a decent combo with rice, charsiu chicken, curry, and pickled cucumber. It has a fair mix of oriental-Melayu flavors, though the execution could be improved. "Nasi Telur Bumbu Hitam" was a pleasant surprise. The sunny side up with Pontianak-style relish adds a nice twist to the simple egg and rice dish, making it pretty good and straightforward. Their "Choi Pan" leans heavily on the vegetable side and was a bit too salty for my taste due to the generous fried garlic. However, many would enjoy it with the accompanying sour-spicy sauce. The "Butter Coffee" is sweet and straightforward, as expected with butter and condensed milk. The ambience is quite nice, especially with the riverside view. It’s a perfect spot to unwind after work and enjoy the sunset. The taste is above average for Surabaya standards, especially compared to the numerous tasteless wannabe-kopitiams. Pricing is reasonable, and it’s not overly crowded with noisy youngsters or nosy families. One suggestion: better pest control would be beneficial due to the riverside location, as flies can be an inconvenience. Overall, Kopitiam Kapuas Hulu is worth a visit, especially for the Teh Tarik and the relaxing atmosphere.

Coming for breakfast at 9AM but unfortunately their food and noodles only available at mid day some snack also not available while we got there. But i like their coffee and tea tarik, authentic taste! 👌 overall 8/10

Kayoon Kapuas Hulu Kopitiam was my first stop in Surabaya, and it gave me such good vibes about this amazing city. We went there directly from the train station, and I was feeling a bit hungry. We had to wait here for a while for other Google Local Guides who were coming to meet me. For breakfast, I really like Kerala Roti, which is kind of like paratha. They usually make it sweet, but I asked them to customize it to my taste buds. We tried coffee, omelette, cake, and many other foods there, and it was an amazing experience because everything was prepared live right in front of us. The best part is that this place is ♿accessible for people with different abilities.

Kopitiam, unfortunately, falls short of expectations with its subpar ambiance and hygiene. The cafe's pricing is relatively high, considering the less-than-pleasant conditions. The presence of a rat near the kitchen corner close to customer tables raises serious concerns about cleanliness. Additionally, the inadequate prayer room and the unpleasant smell of sweat emanating from hanging clothes contribute to an uncomfortable experience. The unclean toilets and murky water from the sprayer further diminish the overall appeal of this establishment.
