This museums depicts the events leading up to the battle of Surabaya on the 10th November 1945. It consists of a small park that is free to enter and a paid museum entry to the basement. There are Bahasa and English text available for self guiding. It is informative and shows you weapons used from the past. I would say you can probably spend about an hour or so here.

The entrance fee is only 15,000 Rp. The tour is quite short—it takes about an hour at most, even if you stop to look at absolutely everything. The museum features many interesting dioramas and videos that perfectly illustrate what happened. There is also a lot of war equipment, guns, helmets, and old photos that leave a deep impression regarding the importance of the monument, the museum, and the battle itself. It is a beautiful and truly "electric" place. You literally get goosebumps reading about what took place here 80 years ago. Highly recommended!

The Experience: If you want to understand why Surabaya is called the "City of Heroes" (Kota Pahlawan), this is the place to start. The complex is divided into the outdoor monument and the underground museum, and both are incredibly well-curated. The Highlights: The Monument & Grounds: The sheer scale of the white obelisk (the "inverted nail") is impressive against the blue sky. The grounds are spacious and clean, featuring a striking statue of the Proclamators, Soekarno and Hatta, standing among ruined pillars—a powerful symbol of resilience amidst destruction. Immersive Museum Interior: I was pleasantly surprised by how modern the museum interior is. It’s not just boring text on walls; there are holographic-style projections and pyramid displays hanging from the ceiling that give it a very contemporary feel. The lighting is dramatic and sets a solemn tone. Detailed Artifacts & Dioramas: The collection of vintage firearms (machine guns, pistols) is well-preserved and fascinating for military history enthusiasts. The dioramas—specifically the one depicting the chaos at Simpang Hospital—are incredibly detailed. They do a great job of visualizing the human cost of the Battle of Surabaya. Accessibility: The exhibits feature clear English translations alongside the Indonesian text (as seen in the display regarding the 1945 Constitution), which makes the history accessible to international visitors. We also saw tour guides using megaphones, which suggests the site is well-equipped to handle large groups and school tours. The Verdict: It is educational, emotional, and visually striking. Whether you are a local student or a foreign tourist, the story of the 10th of November is told here with dignity and depth. Highly recommended!

This museum covers the history of Surabaya, but focuses mostly on the Battle of Surabaya. The garden gives you a grand welcome to the museum, then take the left route to be led into the museum. Tickets cost 15K and requires you register online before buying a ticket. The museum was redoing the second floor of the exhibit when I visited November 2025. Compared to the other museums I visited I felt like they could've done a better job showing what happened and improve the display but with the unique shape of the building I feel artistic qualities take precedence.

Pretty cool monument dedicated to the fallen soldiers during the Battle of Surabaya. The area is calm and quiet, suitable for a short visit. The history behind this monument is pretty interesting, you can visit the museum if you like to learn more in person. I didn't have time to visit the museum so can't comment on it.
