The sunrise actually sheds the first lights exactly in the direction of mount bromo , which is pretty magical. Beautiful and stunning view, but just too crowded. And get well dressed, it’s very cold before the sun rises! In case you’re not dressed enough, you can also rent a jacket for the time you’re there, which is pretty convenient and cheap

Kingkong Hill is a popular sunrise viewpoint in the Mount Bromo area, known for its incredible panoramic views and peaceful atmosphere. Compared to other viewpoints, this location offers a slightly less crowded experience while still showcasing the full beauty of Bromo’s volcanic landscape. The view includes Mount Bromo, Mount Batok, and the wide sea of sand, all covered in morning mist that creates a dramatic and photogenic scene. It is one of the best places for capturing sunrise moments in East Java. For convenience, many visitors choose a Bromo tour package from Surabaya, which allows them to reach Kingkong Hill easily and enjoy the sunrise without hassle. A perfect spot for nature lovers, photographers, and first time visitors to Mount Bromo.

Excellent spot to see the the sunrise, just be aware that four wheelers might be stuck for hours congestion, but still a great time to drink some hot beverages, eat some noodles and enjoy the morning. If you are in a hurry, make the drive park way down and grab a scooter taxi the final stretch. Ps. Walk trough all the cafes and hike the trail up the hill, but be sure you have a headlamp with you

No view for sunrise for the past 4 days, today (27.03.26) we were unlucky as well and saw this... I recommend skipping sunrise if the weather is bad and go up here around 10am, visibility was perfect then and the sun came out. King kong was better viewpoint in my opinion, more quiet and the hike up here is amazing but not that easy, would not do it at night, only during the day.
