Piring Asia is a cozy and inviting spot that serves comforting Asian dishes with generous portions and satisfying flavors. The fried snacks are crispy on the outside and soft inside, making them perfect for sharing, while the clear soup is light, warm, and packed with vegetables and meatballs that feel like homemade comfort food. The noodle dishes are rich and savory, topped with fresh greens and full of texture, making them both filling and enjoyable. Paired with refreshing drinks and a relaxed atmosphere, the restaurant offers a pleasant dining experience that’s great for casual meals with friends or family. Overall, it’s a solid choice if you’re craving hearty, flavorful Asian comfort food in a welcoming setting.

My family and I chose this family restaurant for our lunch upon our arrival in Malang. The ambiance was calm and warm, and the place was spacious to accommodate big families. The staff was super helpful and friendly; they even offered my daughter some stickers of their mascots. We ordered sego sambel komplit (IDR 55,000), Hainanese chicken and mushroom rice (IDR 39,000), package 2 of kids menu (IDR 39,000), half a Peking duck (IDR 150,000), and tomato egg soup (IDR 27,000) as the main course. Meanwhile, the beverages were soursop juice (IDR 22,000), milk-based iced chocolate (IDR 28,000), and mineral water (IDR 8,000). These prices haven't yet been added 10% of VAT. The Peking duck immediately became my favorite. It was super juicy, especially the fatty parts. It came with a sweet and tangy brown sauce that I didn't identify, but it might be a hoisin sauce. Then, the Hainanese rice was savory, but the chicken and mushrooms as its side dish tasted a bit bland for me. It was better to pair with the duck instead. The kids menu consisted of small Hainanese yamien rice, a silky chocolate pudding, and a cute keychain of the restaurant's mascot. My daughter seemed to enjoy her meal. Also, my husband quickly finished his sego sambel komplit (a complete menu of rice with sambal, a fried egg, and other side dishes). He seemed to like it so much. What was funny was that I specifically asked the waiter not to add any seasoning to the tomato egg soup since I would feed my baby son with it. Apparently, my son didn't want to eat it since it was tasteless, and we couldn't enjoy the soup either. It was purely my fault, though. Overall, it was a pleasant experience to eat at Piring Asia. Hopefully, I can pay another visit here when arriving in Malang.

Quite disappointed to be honest. I ordered the stir-fried brocolis with shrimps and well, they were only 4 tiny shrimps…😂 (see the picture) The taste did also not really meet my expectations. They also asked to pay up front, before receiving my meal, which I thought was a bit weird. Otherwise, the place is nice and the staff is kind.

Took my family here for a dinner, expecting something good. The place was superb and spacious, the hospitality of the services was also good. But me and my family are quite a foodies so we have a quite expectation from the food but what we found is rather sad. Although the presentation is pretty and taste okay, the portions are relatively small compare to the price we paid. The most saddening me is the Pecking Duck Hainanese Rice, small cuts and barely any meat on it. Piring Asia, I think you should reconsider to improve your menu in the future.

Piring Asia is a spacious, clean, and comfortable restaurant, making it a great place to dine. The food is tasty, and the prices are reasonable, though I found the portions to be on the smaller side (in my opinion). Still, the overall dining experience is enjoyable, especially with the variety of Asian dishes they offer. It was my first time trying Peking duck here, and while the flavor was good, the texture was quite chewy—almost like gum. I’m not sure if that’s how it’s supposed to be, but personally, I didn’t enjoy the texture as much. Overall, Piring Asia is a nice place to eat, especially if you’re looking for a comfortable dining space with family. It’s definitely worth a visit!
