Anyone interested in learning about the kingdoms of Java should visit this museum near Malang. Museum official Pak Yossy was an excellent guide, and helped me to understand some of the nuances and tensions in contemporary representations of Majapahit and Singhasari.

Must visit if you're in the area. Ideal to visit the museum before you visit the candi so that you have some background context. Recommend to have the museum guide explain the exhibition to you. Museum guides are very friendly with extensive knowledge on local history, able to speak English if required.

The place is nice, still small but they still increase the exhibition. The tour guide is warm-hearted, and the explanation easy to understand.
