A hidden gem for non-halal cuisine, with flavors that live up to its legendary reputation despite some areas for improvement. 🐷🍜 [+] Sate babi is a standout, with tender meat and aromatic, sweet-savory kecap seasoning. [+] Hong Kong fried rice with lapchiong delivers a smoky aroma from the wok, balancing minimalist yet rich flavors. [+] Dishes like ayam kecap and bakmi goreng impress with well-balanced seasoning and wok-cooked depth, while the bakso has a great meat-to-flour ratio and a bouncy texture. [+] Spacious seating and a semi-outdoor area make it a comfortable spot, though the emptiness reflects its declining visitor count. [-] Cleanliness is a concern, with flies roaming the semi-outdoor area. Installing insect zappers could solve this. [-] Service is lacking, as the staff (including the owner) were unresponsive even with minimal customers. [-] Non-cash payment options have been discontinued, making it less convenient. [-] The current roadside location may be contributing to the decline in visitors; relocating to a more central area with a higher demand for Chinese food could revitalize the business. Depot Gai Sin delivers on taste with its classic recipes and quality ingredients but needs significant improvements in cleanliness, service, and location to restore its former glory.

Food is quite good, typical Chinese food, my go-to Chinese food place when in Jombang (Open Afternoon - Night). (-) cooking takes a bit long so you must be patient 🙂. The portion is quite big for a single portion in my opinion.

I had a bad experience regarding the service. I have been here several times. We usually come in a group; today I came with 13 people. I ordered a lot of food ranging from squid, fried rice, soda gembira, and many more. I ordered 7 friedrices, but when I handed the order slip to the employee there, the employee actually said something like, "Don't order too much, because 1 plate has a large portion, afraid it will go to waste, YOU CAN ADD MORE LATER." Now, because we heard "can add more," okay, we thought the portions were large and we were also afraid of wasting food. When the order arrived, it turned out to be lacking, and true enough, we were 2 portions short. Well, previously we correctly ordered 7 portions, but because they said not to order too much & we could add more, we reduced it to 5. Then we finally asked to add 2 more, BUT the employee there said, "If you want to add more, the queue is quite long because we have to wait for other queues." Now here we protested because in the previous explanation it was not explained that we had to queue again AND WE actually ordered 7 from the beginning, exactly matching the number of our request/people. Why didn't they just cook according to our request from the beginning, instead asking to reduce it + saying we could add more without explanation. Not only that, we also ordered squid, but the squid didn't come until the end, yet in the end we still paid according to the order that included the squid, even though the squid didn't arrive, so we paid for "thin air" (nothing). More or less the conversation went like this: My dad: You said we could add more earlier Auntie: If it's adding more, of course you have to queue My dad: Well, you should have explained beforehand if there was a queue, but you didn't explain it Auntie: Well, anywhere if you add more, you queue My dad: Well, we didn't want to queue either, that's why we directly ordered 7, but earlier we were told not to order too much, just 5, without the explanation that adding more means queueing. If it's like that, just follow the request
