It is called 1911 Cafe & Resto because of the year it was founded by the Dutch, the main business is coffee, cloves and rubber plantation. With our resources of coffees and sceneries we diversified the business to tourism, as well as the growing aspect of tourism in Banyuwangi.

Great place to chill and relax! It was surprisingly uncrowded when we visited today, even though it was the weekend. The foods we ordered from the Javanese menu were quite good and well-priced. The gado-gado portion was huge—you could easily share it among 2–3 adults! The fried cassava was also very tasty. My only complaint is that the fried items were a bit too oily (though I guess that comes with the territory for fried food!).

This is the best restaurant in the area. They have a great selection of food. Staff is real friendly. The vibe is also really beautiful and peaceful. I had the grilled chicken dish and it was cooked perfectly, tasty and Indonesian in the best way. The tofu and tempe were big and yummy, not tiny side portions like most places give you. The thing that did it for me was the Lemon Ginger Lemongrass Tea with honey. It was so delicious and comforting after a long day riding around. The honey was so good that I asked them where to buy it, and they showed me a small spot only minutes away from the local farmers, which made everything feel even more authentic and fresh. You can tell they actually care about quality here, not just selling meals. If you are staying in the area, this is the place to eat, relax, and slow down for a while. I’d recommend if you want to come with a big group, friends, or by yourself, sit for hours, go for a swim, and just enjoy the calm energy, the smiles, and the simple feeling that this mountain place somehow makes the whole day better. Every visit feels easy and worth it too for sure always again.

Be sure not to miss this place. There is also a homestay inside this small restaurant compound. This restaurant compound here since 1911, a river passes through the compound, making the whole compound calm, cool, airy. Their cassava is their signature items. It comes with chilli, mayo and mustard. Chocolate cheese pisang is good but I don't like the smell of the cheese. Vietnamese coffee with pure arabica beans is good. There is no aircon, but a natural breeze comes through the whole restaurant compound. The sound of the river water is calming. A few big fishes in a drain perimetering the restaurant.

It is a nice place it’s very beautiful and calm and the food is good and coffee is great! BUT they have a Luwak in the most awful cage. 💔 No chance for him to move, nothing to play, no plant … simply horrible. He looked very sad and rolled himself up in a ball in the corner. I’m happy to remove this review if you change the conditions for this poor animal, which has feelings too! 💔 Life in captivity is generally horrible please make it at least more nice!
