This museum is the right place to learn about Purbalingga's history and culture. Its collections are quite diverse, ranging from historical objects and traditional equipment to heritage items with educational value. The atmosphere inside the museum is quiet, clean, and comfortable for visits with families or students. It's also located in the city center, making it easy to reach. Very worthwhile as an educational tourism destination when in Purbalingga.

Museum Prof. Dr. R. Soegarda Poerbakawtja is a general museum run by the Purbalingga government. Its location is very strategic Regent, near the Purbalingga town square. The collections displayed are very diverse and represent Purbalingga's history and culture. They range from the collection of timbal and kris used by Dipokusumo, the leader of Purbalingga for several generations, wayang, Purbalingga's distinctive batik fabrics, Purbalingga woven fabrics that are now scarce, Nderes equipment (for making coconut sugar/brown sugar), and Purbalingga wayang suket, which was designated as Intangible Cultural Heritage native to Purbalingga in 2020. Also, if we're lucky, we can see the process of making Wayang Suket by Mas Badri, the only wayang suket craftsman in Purbalingga. There is no admission charge for this museum, meaning it's free. There is a lot to learn here about Purbalingga's history and culture. Besides Museum Soegarda, Purbalingga also has several other museums worth visiting to get to know Purbalingga better.
