The Borobudur Museum was very informative — honestly, we learned so much here! We should’ve visited this first before going to the Borobudur Temple itself, because it really helps you understand the history and significance of the temple better. It gives more meaning to the whole experience. The museum building is located just across the main ticketing office, a bit separate from the temple area, so it’s easy to miss if you’re not aware. But it’s definitely worth the stop! The exhibits are well-organized and detailed, with plenty of information about the temple’s architecture, carvings, and restoration. The staff here were also much more accommodating and friendly compared to the ones at the main temple area. Overall, this was the part we enjoyed the most during our Borobudur visit. A must-visit spot inside the compound if you want to truly appreciate the site’s history and culture.

a newly built complex west of the borobudur temple. here you might find a museum, an amphiteater, sme's stall and spacious parking area. there's no entrance fee but if you want to pay a visit to the museum itself it would cost you 10.000 rupiah, pretty cheap for a small yet well maintained museum covering the history of borobudur temple. but, there's something I hate about this complex, when you've done with the temple tour and decided it was time to go home you'll have to go through a maze of sellers as if you're forced to buy something from them. it's so annoying especially when you're already tired and just want to go straight to the parking spot

The temple is now very well organised so that you can visit peacefully without having many people around. They limit to 1200 person a day, that why it's highly recommended to booked your ticket in advance.

Great place for walking, shopping, and relaxing (not during peak season). The museum ticket is cheap, but they need to put reminder for the visitor not to talk /dance tiktok in the museum. While we were there, there were bunch of middleschoolers so noisy making content. Maybe their teacher assign them to, but it's irritating.

A good place to learn more about borobudur. The place is modern, new, and well kept, but not too big. There are history and architectural review on the building. You can also have a vr experience walking around borobudur in 3d like a game. The ticket cost Rp 10.000 and the vr is additional Rp 10.000.
