Went to Soto Bangkong with my family and ordered a few bowls of soto along with some fried snacks. Honestly, the food was not bad, pretty much what you'd expect from a classic soto, and the fried sides were decent too. They also offered us some “otak-otak”, and I was lowkey shocked when I found out they were IDR 5k each 😭😭 lol. Later I checked the menu reviews online and was honestly surprised by how pricey some of the items were. The place was absolutely packed when we visited, like... there were barely any seats left 😭 I guess it was because we came on a weekend. On the bright side, the service was quick and the food came out pretty fast despite how busy it was. Overall, it was a decent experience, but personally I think one visit is enough for me. I don't really see myself coming back for a repeat visit.

Ordered Soto Ayam, as usual, I really enjoy the broth. However, the portion is very small. But price I would say is quite ok. For Rp20k it’s quite feeling. Es Jeruk, is Rp9k. Sweet and refreshing. The shop is situated 3km away from the famous Lawang Sewu. Parking is limited however.

If you are looking for a soto spot with a spacious seating area to enjoy with a group or family, Soto Bangkong should definitely be on your must-try list while you are in Semarang! They give you the option to have the rice served on the side, and their sate is incredibly tender with a very generous portion size for a single serving. However, the service could be improved. It was a bit confusing visiting for the first time since they don't have printed menus. You also have to wait for a server to come to your table rather than going up to order.

Soto Bangkong is an absolute institution in Semarang and a must-visit for any culinary traveler. This legendary spot serves up traditional soto that is consistently delicious, with a clear, savory broth and perfectly tender chicken that hits the spot every time. Whether you're stopping by for a quick breakfast or a hearty lunch, this place never fails to impress.

Warung Soto Bangkong is a long-standing chicken soto restaurant. It's strategically located in downtown Semarang. The standard menu includes chicken soto, chicken satay, offal, fried tempeh, and more. The taste is quite good, although it's similar compared to other home-cooked soto in Semarang. Parking is on the side of the road, but can be a problem if there are a lot of customers
