March 2026 We've been there and been told that the museum is closedz only opened for special events and relocated to Museum Ranggawarsita a few kilometers away. So we've been to the other location and it was very nice. Pictures and videos are from the other location.

Very interesting military museum, a lot of cool artifacts to see including small artillery. Mostly Indonesian only, but some in English and Japanese. There's several sections: the life of Prince diponegoro; the five-day battle in Semarang; and the post-independence wars. Several small artillery on display. Housed in a 1930s courthouse, later used by the Kenpetai. There's a monument to the five day war in the traffic circle out front. Entry is 5,000 for all, including foreigners.

I visited alone on a weekday and it was almost closing time for the museum. So I was the only one touring the museum. The vibes are quite creepy walking around alone, in a quiet museum; there was no other sound, only the sound of rushing water and birds chirping. When I was entering the 2nd floor, I was treated by arts on whole the walls and floors which were sooo beautiful, looks really dazzling and amazing. The entire collection stored in the museum is physical and factual evidence of the history of Pangeran Diponegoro's journey. The ticket price is only Rp 5000, the parking area is quite large tho, there are also some restaurants around the museum, and imo it's worth to spending time and to get to know about the history with arts there.

An artsy historical museum. With Rp 5.000,- for entry fee, you can enjoy various Indonesia’s historical events. Located in the city center, you will see Tugu Muda and surrounding from 2nd floor in this museum. I recommend you to visit this place! :D
