Cetho Temple
Sacred mountainside Javanese-Hindu temple built in the 15th century & overlooking tea plantations.
Candi ceto is a temple marking a site associated with King Brawijaya V of the Majapahit kingdom. This building is still used as a place of worship by the Hindus of candi ceto, and is still used and maintained as it should be, while local customs and culture also remain strong.

Cetho Temple, located on the slopes of Mount Lawu in Central Java, is a serene and spiritually significant site. The temple has a unique charm, with its distinct Javanese Hindu architecture and beautiful mountain backdrop. However, it's likely that the current structure doesn't exactly resemble its original form, as some parts have been rebuilt or restored over time. Despite this, Cetho Temple still retains its cultural and historical value, offering visitors a peaceful atmosphere to explore its terraces and spiritual significance. It's a fascinating spot for those interested in Javanese history and architecture, though it's important to note that some parts have been modified from their original design.
View on GoogleIt was a good historical place. The road is dangerous. If you a new biker don't go with your bike. Usually you can use Jeep or tourist vehicle. The road is too stepper and concrete and stone are everywhere. Becarefull in the driving. After reaching the place, you feel so good.
View on GoogleA Peaceful and Beautiful Experience at Candi Cetho I visited Candi Cetho on December 2024 and it was an amazing experience. This beautiful Hindu temple is located in the Lawu mountains and the peaceful atmosphere made it the perfect place for prayer and reflection. The temple itself is stunning, with detailed carvings and a calm, spiritual vibe. The surrounding nature is also beautiful, with lush green trees and fresh mountain air. Whether you’re there to pray or just enjoy the views, Candi Cetho is a special place. I felt lucky to be able to pray at such a historic and beautiful temple.
View on GoogleSalam.. The road conditions to the temple are quite smooth, steep uphill, especially before reaching the destination. Because there are 2 steep turns and steep uphill before reaching the temple, there may be about 500 meters of the road. No need to hesitate for front-wheel drive automatic vehicles if you want to go to the location, as long as the vehicle is in prime condition and the driver is experienced. However, it is paid off with a beautiful view from the top of the temple, with an entrance ticket of 15 thousand / person. Thankyou and hopefully useful.
View on GoogleBeautiful temple. But already altered so much resembling besakih temple in Bali. The road to this temple already good and wide, just be careful because it is a winding road and quite steep.
