We went here once ☝🏼 and then came back multiple times 🖐🏼 I was suprised to see something called a “Fantastic cheesy” (cheese smoothie) 🥤🧀 right by the drinks on the menu, but as the cheese loving dutchman i am, i fell for it 🐭🪤 and it was suprisingly good. Its mostly vanilla with a hint of cheese. The avocado 🥑 toast 🥪 was also pretty good and looked very nice👌🏼, only downside was the bread that was a little tough. The smoothie bowls (From the island and Pink supreme) were very good and i definitely recommend them!🫵🏼 The churros are also very nice topped with some sugar and VERY crispy i must say! One more thing i think would make it even better for me and other tourists especially, is some fans/ventilators.🌬️💨 I noticed it gets hot because theres little to no wind coming in compared to standing by the road for example. Still 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

cute place for breakfast, lunch and fingerfood dinner. very kind and friendly service, good coffee. reasonable and fair prices for good quality. the javanese owner runs a second place on the other side of the island.

March 2026 Nice place, open late. There is another Kawela on the North East part of the island where there is a bar. No bar in this one. We had a juice and pesto pasta. The pesto is obviously industrial and not homemade but it was passable. Good vibe and setting.

TL;DR: I highly recommend Kawela. I have spent a couple weeks on the island, and ate breakfast at Kawela almost every day. I tried every single one of the smoothie bowls, and still haven't figured out my favorite. I would eat all of them again, and the beautiful plating makes it taste even better. The avocado toast is also delicious, as are all of the beverages - a full array of coffee/espresso, chocolate, and sparkling drinks. They do have oat milk, which works much better for me. There are also different homemade cakes, smoothies and juices. The atmosphere is great. The music is constant but not too loud, the staff is friendly. They take both cash & QR payments, for those who will find it useful.
