Tasty food. Beef with sambal hijau is my choice. Not so spicy. Nasi bakar also recommended. Beef satay. They have a smoking area as well.

Rather different local taste at this restaurant. I enjoyed the “nasi bakar empal Suramadu” while wifey loves her fried chicken or “ayam goreng Kremes”. The sautéed beansprouts with tofu was outstanding. All tasty and delicious.

If you are looking for good Indonesian food in PVJ, Gula Merah offers you a wide variety of nusantara cuisine. Although some of the food is not quite like in the menu, everything tastes just okay. I've seen people coming around 3-4 pm just to have fried snacks like bala2, fried tofu; it's tempting indeed. My laksa soup is savory, very little meat. Taste okay. I ordered ayam serundeng with tahu tempe for my toddler; taste good she loves it. Price is affordable, service time is quite fast, servers all very nice and friendly.

Variety of good Indonesian dishes. The food may even be exceptional, but I can't tell yet 'cause I have not yet tasted other outlets.

In the search of food we came to this place. Not knowing they are serving food out within 5 minutes (our experience). I ordered Nasi Campur Empal Sate. The whole dish was delicious, except the empal that one was disappointing. Es Campur really good, served out 3 min after ordering. Definitely one to come back to!
