Bakso Bintang Asia was already very crowded when I arrived, and there was around a 10-minute waiting list. Thankfully, I still managed to get parking, and for a place that busy, the service was actually quite organized. I came with my family of five, and once a table was available, the staff immediately guided us in. The drinks came in about 10 minutes, while the food arrived in around 15 minutes, although not all at the same time. Taste-wise, the biggest highlight for me was actually the beef fried kway teow with duck egg, not the bakso. This was exactly the kind of kway teow I like: no sweet soy sauce, just a clean savory-salty flavor. The texture of the noodles was very soft, easy to chew, and honestly really satisfying to eat. It felt light but still flavorful, and for me this was the best dish on the table. As for the bakso, I ordered a mix of smooth and tendon meatballs. Since the restaurant is literally called Bakso Bintang Asia and the place was packed, I expected the bakso to be the star. But honestly, it was just so-so. The meat flavor was there and it was savory enough, but it did not feel particularly special or memorable. The texture was not the chewy, bouncy kind I usually look for, but more like a softer meatball with a slight snap when bitten. The broth was also lighter than expected and had a slight sweetness, which made it feel less rich than I imagined. The bihun had the same issue for me — too light and slightly too sweet. One thing that surprised me in a good way was the risol kampung. It was better than a typical street-style risol, with a dense bihun filling and a wrapper that already had its own savory flavor. Dipped into the slightly sweet peanut sauce, it worked really well and felt balanced. Overall, I feel a little misled by the restaurant’s name because the bakso itself was fairly mediocre and definitely not the strongest thing here. If someone comes specifically looking for great bakso, I would say this can be a second option, not the first. But if you come for the fried kway teow, that is a different story — because that one was genuinely excellent. Price-wise, a small bowl of bakso with bihun at around 30k felt a bit overrated to me, while the kway teow at a similar price was much more worth it.

This is one of the most popular noodle and meatball (bakso) restaurants in Bandung, attracting both tourists and locals alike. It is conveniently located right across from Cihapit Market, making it easy to find. The restaurant is almost always busy. I visited during dinner time, and although it was quite crowded, we didn't have to wait long before getting a table. The restaurant features a charming vintage Bandung (Tempo Doeloe) design, creating a warm and nostalgic atmosphere that makes the dining experience even more enjoyable. Although the restaurant is best known for its signature bakso, I decided to try the Yamin Kwetiau instead, and it was absolutely delicious. The seasoning was well-balanced, and the flavors were very satisfying. Unfortunately, they don't offer Yamin Chicken Noodles, which happens to be my personal favorite. The prices are a little on the expensive side, and I found the portion of my Yamin Kwetiau to be quite small. Overall, this restaurant is definitely worth visiting, especially for bakso lovers. Its delicious food, nostalgic atmosphere, and strategic location make it one of the must-try dining spots in Bandung.

very worthhh the hype!!!! if you like pho broth you will definitely like this one, i found their broth has the same characteristics as pho, but just way much flavor but i do really like it. it was different from the traditional bakso style we usually had here. its very unique and refreshing, they had a huge variety of menu from snacks to mains. definitely recommend to grab their bakso and bakso goreng. their bakso goreng is very fluffy i really like it. i was seated immediately at around 11 am on a public holiday, they had many seatings area so it was nice and had a fast service. they do have a tight parking space so just keep that in mind 😅

We came here because we were craving something warm and soupy but not too heavy. Luckily, we got a seat right away. Apparently, the place is quite viral and people usually have to queue. As for the food, I really liked the bakso style here. It comes with fresh condiments that give off a Chinese-Vietnamese kind of vibe, which made the whole dish taste lighter and fresher. The broth was also clean and flavorful. Surprisingly, the fried rice was really good too.

The bakso was pretty good, but I loved the kwetiau even more. Maybe because it was freshly made, it tasted really nice. The coconut pudding was the highlight for me, unique and surprisingly delicious.
