If you are looking for a culinary escape that combines breathtaking views with authentic Indonesian flavors, The Stone Cafe in the Dago area of Bandung is a destination that should be at the top of your list. Perched in the lush, hilly outskirts of the city, this restaurant offers a panoramic vista of Bandung that transforms your meal into an unforgettable experience. The first thing that strikes you is the ambiance. The Stone Cafe takes full advantage of its elevated location. Whether you are visiting for a breezy lunch or a romantic dinner, the vast view of the city valley creates a serene and wonderful atmosphere. The cool Dago air and the rustic, earthy architecture make it a perfect spot to unwind. The menu at The Stone Cafe is a sophisticated tribute to Indonesian cuisine, specifically influenced by Sundanese cooking styles. Their approach—balancing perfectly cooked proteins with fresh, raw ingredients—results in dishes that feel both traditional and elevated. We began our meal with the Tuna Salad, and it set a high bar for the rest of the afternoon. The tuna was exceptionally fresh, with absolutely no "fishy" aftertaste, which can be a rarity. The vegetables were crisp, but the real star was the dressing—a beautifully balanced blend that complimented the ingredients perfectly without overpowering them. Nasi Raos and Nasi Timbel For the mains, the Nasi Raos with Chicken was a standout. The rice itself is a masterclass in flavor; cooked with anchovies and chili, it is incredibly fragrant and savory. It provided a bold base for the fried chicken, which was aromatic with galangal and traditional herbs. We also ventured into the Nasi Timbel with Grilled Duck. Duck is a difficult protein to master, but The Stone Cafe nailed it. The duck was surprisingly tender and remarkably juicy, lacking the toughness often found in grilled poultry. It paired beautifully with the traditional rice wrap, making for a hearty and satisfying plate. To wash it all down, we opted for the Cucumber Lemonade. It was the ideal choice to end the meal. Crisp, cold, and tart, it acted as a perfect palate cleanser after the rich, herb-heavy Indonesian spices, leaving us feeling refreshed. The Stone Cafe is more than just a place to eat; it is a highlight of the Bandung culinary scene. Between the stunning hilly views and a kitchen that clearly respects Sundanese flavors and high-quality ingredients, it is a must-visit for anyone traveling to West Java. Go right before sunset to enjoy the city lights as they begin to flicker on—and definitely don't skip the Nasi Rao

View on GoogleWe had a great dining experience at this amazing restaurant. The night city view from the restaurant was breathtaking. The food was delicious with generous portions. The service was very efficient with the staff very responsive and hospitable. The time it took for them to serve our group of 7 was 10 to 15 minutes. Overall, a very cosy place if you are visiting alone, a small group or a large group. Highly recommended. If I visit Bandung again, I am sure to visit the Stone Cafe.
