One of Bandung's most underrated art experiences. Visited on a weekday with a friend visiting from Mexico, and we were both floored — the sculptures are genuinely majestic, but it's the whole package that makes this place special: striking building design, a small theater with short films on Pak Nyoman Nuarta's work, and the "Lost in Clay" workshop where you make your own piece (highly recommend, great hands-on add-on to the visit). We got lucky and ran into Vio, one of the guides, who walked us through the history of the museum, the vision behind Nuarta's work, and even mentioned a new wing opening November 2026 — worth planning a return trip around. Huge shout-out to him and the staff; they clearly care about the place. The outdoor grounds have a really relaxed, positive vibe — easy to spend an extra hour just wandering. There's also a restaurant next door with beautiful design; we didn't have time to eat but it's on the list for next visit. Tips for visitors: go on a weekday if you can (quieter), budget time for the clay workshop, and ask for a guide if one's available — it adds a lot of context you'd otherwise miss.
View on GoogleA brilliant place to visit while in Bandung! The art is beautiful and there are a lot of pieces to see. It's easy to get to with a Grab from the city centre. The only thing I would improve is perhaps some directions throughout as I found it a little difficult to navigate (especially outside). The staff were wonderfully welcoming and kind as well.
View on GoogleI'm surprised this place isn't better publicized, as id say it was one of the highlights of our time. In Bandung. Definitely better than the geology museum!!! The only exhibition are gorgeous, it's big and spacious, they let you borrow strollers free of charge. It wasn't overly full (a refreshing change). Just a lovely space in general, we spent about an hour - 1.5 hours. Also price wise very fair at 50k
View on GoogleStepping into the Nyoman Nuarta Museum felt like wandering inside a sculptor’s imagination. Every corner carried a quiet kind of magic, the kind that makes you pause, tilt your head, and just take it all in. I left genuinely amazed, not just by the scale of the works, but by the boldness of the ideas behind them. What stood out most was his creativity. It doesn’t whisper, it roars. Each piece feels alive, like it has a story it’s slightly daring you to understand. You can sense the confidence of someone who has fully embraced what they’re good at and turned it into a lifelong journey. There’s something deeply inspiring about that. I’m excited to see more of his artwork in the future and to witness the continued growth of this museum.
View on GoogleA 20/10 experience. I loved every minute i spent here. Too bad people are busy taking pictures instead of admiring and to "feel" the art. It is so much more than just a pretty and instagramable venue. Mr. Nuarta deserves so much more appreciation of his art, and his masterpieces
