Anbai is one of those cozy hidden gems tucked away in Little Tokyo Blok M, and the food genuinely delivers. The Unagi here is delicious and one of my personal favorites, and the Chicken Nanban is equally satisfying — tender, savory, and full of flavor. The menu variety is great too, with solid options across the board at reasonable prices. That said, there is one major issue that really takes away from the experience: indoor smoking is allowed despite the restaurant being air-conditioned. This is a serious concern. Smoke residue can become embedded in surfaces for weeks, months, or even years, and it will continue to smell as long as it is present. So even when no one is actively smoking, the smell lingers in the walls, furniture, and fabrics throughout. It genuinely ruins the dining atmosphere and is a real health concern. Please do not bring your children here. The food deserves better surroundings. If you’re okay with the smoke situation, the food is worth trying. But until the smoking policy changes, it’s hard to give this place a full recommendation. Hopefully management takes this seriously and makes it smoke-free soon.

Tried this place for the first time because my kids recommended it. The potato salad was really tasty, and the tori karaage nanban don came in a pretty big portion. They’ve got a nice variety of sushi too. Prices are about what you’d expect from a Japanese restaurant. Definitely a good spot for anyone who loves Japanese food!

Anbai was recommended by a friend, especially for their chicken nanban, and yes, it was good. However, it didn’t quite become my favorite. I also ordered one of their set packages, but overall it felt just so-so and not really as expected. In terms of service, I think there’s still room for improvement. A great restaurant should ideally deliver both good food and good service, and that balance wasn’t fully there yet during my visit. Still, it might be worth trying if you’re curious.

Always enjoy eating here for the lunch package. The food is delicious & consistent. also got free coffee jelly for dessert. The area is a bit dark and the down side for me is that it's a joint smoking area, so if you're sensitive to smoke, maybe this place isnt suitable for you.

Feeling adventurous and decided to try a new place — I was sooo curious about Anbai! It’s located in the Blok M ruko area, near Kashiwa (if I’m not mistaken). The vibe is very Japanese — simple, cozy, and authentic. During my visit, it was quite busy but surprisingly no waiting list, which is a big plus considering how many hyped places in Blok M usually have long queues. I ordered their Chicken Nanban set menu. Usually when I go to a Japanese restaurant, I always order the mackerel set… but I couldn’t resist the sashimi that comes with the chicken nanban set hehe. The set includes: - Plump chicken nanban - Assorted sashimi (salmon, tuna, and one white fish I forgot the name of) - Miso soup - Salad - Rice The sashimi was super fresh and literally melted in my mouth. So good. As for the chicken nanban — it was juicy and perfectly cooked. I loved the tangy sauce; it balanced the richness of the fried chicken really well. Everything in the set felt satisfying and well-portioned. Overall, it was such a good experience. Great food, nice atmosphere, and no stressful waiting time. Definitely a place I’d visit again ✨
