This is the kind of Japanese restaurant that feels really comfortable and welcoming. The food is good, the atmosphere is cozy, and it’s the type of place you can easily come back to whenever you’re craving Japanese food. Nothing too complicated, just good food, a nice environment, and an overall satisfying experience. Definitely a comforting spot for a casual Japanese meal.

Amazing comfort Japanese food hidden gem in South Jakarta. Fresh sushi, good donburi and yakitori and many authentic recipes. Great value for money especially their lunch sets. Many Japanese frequent this place. Owner is really nice and greeted our family during my last visit.

You can always count on Sumibi for tasty, comforting and never boring Japanese food! We tried the new 300g gyutan patties and they were so juicy, comes with so many flavor combos and super worth the price!! Other stuff is also good as always😍👌

Recommend: Yuzu Shio Ramen 🍜 and Maguro Tataki 🍣 Every single dish ordered were good, slightly above standards than other Japanese restaurants in my opinion. However, two dishes stand out to me: Yuzu Shio Ramen was superb 🔥 Ramens are usually on the rich-side which often times feels heavy to taste. However, this yuzu shio ramen counters the broth’s richness and heaviness in my opinion. The broth is clear and feels clean on the palate. On top of that, the ramen noodles were cooked to perfection 👍 The Maguro Tataki is cut in chunky pieces which gives a chewy bite. Adding the green onions on top adds savory umami taste that blends perfectly which does not need additional soy sauce to me. Both of these dishes are not easily found in other Japanese restaurants. The curry rice is also unique with their slight banana taste — adds sweetness in the curry. Although a nice blend of flavors, I find this combination a bit odd which I don’t particularly look for in Japanese curries. Overall 8.5/10 ⭐️ would come back if there’s no waiting list. Sumibi gets a little crowded on lunch time and it’s better to make reservation (just in case).

For me, Sumibi is considered one of the good Japanese restaurant in Gandaria area, located in the lower ground of an apartment. I’ve always come for the kalbi and curry, very good. The staffs are super friendly and fast service. You feel very homey. The hot and cold Ocha is awesome.
