I've been a regular here for over 10 years, and it's a crime I haven't left a review until now! This is my ultimate spot for comfort food. I've tried almost the entire menu and everything is incredibly delicious. To top it off, the staff is the friendliest in Jakarta and always remembers my name. If you've never been, drop what you're doing and go!
View on GoogleWe had a nice dinner at Koi Mahakam earlier tonight. I had been there several times years ago, but more recently we have gone more often to Koi Mega Kuningan, where the quality standards have unfortunately significantly deteriorated. I was happy to see that Koi Mahakam is doing much better than its sibling in Mega Kuningan. The menu of Koi has changed a lot from what it was years ago and it is striking how cheap their prices are now for the quality and portions of food they are serving. We have paid much more for much worse dinners at many other places than at Koi tonight. We ordered a couple of starters (asparagus soup, cheese croquettes) and a main course each. All were good and the beef tartare I had was solid. My partner's striploin was also fine for the price that was charged. I like the home made Belgian fries you can have at Koi. They are so much better than standard French fries and they are properly done according to Belgian standards. Koi desserts are yummy. I can warmly recommend the crêpes, which are thin as a proper crêpe is supposed to be. Also the profiteroles and mille feuille is in line with what one would expect in a Belgian-French restaurant. I still wanted to try the Crêpes Suzette flambées au Grand Marnier, but we had eaten too much by then. Koi's price setting is low. You are getting an amazing deal for the money that is being charged. Obviously for these prices, you cannot expect a fine dining experience, but even then the quality is surprisingly good. Sadly, Koi does not seem to be in its heydays from ten years ago. The restaurant was empty, and that is really too bad. We will be back to Koi Mahakam. I wish they would implement the same quality standards at their Mega Kuningan outlet, where we have been disappointed several times already.
View on GoogleA calm and cozy café bar with consistently cool air conditioning, even though there's an indoor smoking area. The smell of cigarette smoke is surprisingly mild and not overwhelming. The service is excellent where the staff are friendly, attentive, and quick to help. The atmosphere is relaxed, and even when it's busy, the tables are spaced far enough apart that conversations still feel private and comfortable. They have a great selection of alcoholic drinks. Some are perfect for a laid-back afternoon hangout that eases into dinner, especially the Irish Coffee.
View on GoogleVery good service!! The Beer Bintang Raddler is very affordable! Mbak Sri is a very hospitable and friendly staff who work the longest in this restaurant. Nice sorbet too! Highly recommend the Nasi Goreng Kambinng (big serving) and Tongseng! One of the best
View on GoogleWe are in for steaks today and fully satisfied with the presentation, though many place served better steaks. But Koi was not just for steaks, they have consistent delicious meals like Beef Lasagna, Salmon Mac & Cheese (Oh I love cheese ❤️❤️). Really want to order Paella today but it took long to serve, thus I decide not to order. Try also their Apple Crumble and Tri-Lava Cake. A perfect dessert for today.
