I popped into Bodro Sewu Gallery one day to join a gamelan practice and the teacher and members of the ensemble were incredibly friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The space itself is absolutely beautiful and the experience ended up being one of the highlights of my entire trip to Indonesia. I would definitely come back.

The perfect place to learn Gamelan. For anyone interested to learn traditional Indonesian musical instrument and the famous Gamelan this is definitely the place to learn. They have sessions in various days depending on availability. Once you start you progress together as a group. The teachers are great teaching you from basics, making it a fun learning experience set in a cosy atmosphere. The architecture of the place is exquisite with a blend of traditional touch.

While I was doing a bahasa Indonesia course in Jakarta, I took gamelan classes here. It was the highlight of my stay in Jakarta. Teachers are great, atmosphere is amazing, the staff was very friendly and welcoming. They even invited me to watch the more advanced classes with singers and dancers. After the lessons there is always tea and kue and time to chat with eachother. Highly recommended!!
