Must Eat: Dendeng Merah and Dendeng Batokok 😋 The dendeng is the highlight of my meal in RM Surya. I personally prefer Dendeng Merah, the meat is more tender and don’t fear because the cabai is not as spicy as it looks 😅 If you’re a crunch lover, their Peyek is also delicious and crispy. The other dishes are also great, but do not stand out. Overall, heavy on coconut milk but tasty until your last bite

Still a One and Only. Tetap Goated. There is always some loud, partisan debate over the big Nasi Padang chains, those sprawling empires with central kitchens that crank out food like car parts. But then there is Surya, a glorious neighborhood staple. This singular outpost only recently surrendered to the luxury of an air conditioned section. You walk in and it absolutely does not feel like a factory. It feels like a family home. Every dish tastes like it was nurtured in beautiful, small batches. The rendang is dark, brooding, and beautifully complex. The gulai cumi, tender as a sigh. Then there is the jackfruit curry and the ayam pop, carrying the weight of tradition, elevated by fierce sambals that wake you up. The faithful keep coming back to this place, completely oblivious to whatever bigger fads are gripping the city. This joint may not be for everyone, especially those folks entirely used to comparing tier lists of massive, giant eating rooms, but maybe that is exactly the entire point. Some excellent places actually benefit from a little quiet, unapologetic self gatekeeping. Four well deserved glowing gold stars.

One of the best Padang restaurants in Benhil. The food is very tasty and authentic, especially the rendang and sate padang lidah sapi. The portions are generous and the price is still reasonable for the location. The place is clean, service is quick, and the staff are friendly. Good option for lunch when the area is busy because the food is served fast. Musholla available with quiet room and clean area also. During lunch time on the weekend, the resto was quite packed. Fortunately, the waiters were so good at their job, so we didn't have to wait long for the order to come. However, it was really difficult to find a parking spot near the resto. We can choose to dine in the normal or VIP area—the difference is VIP area is more spacious and the AC temperature is colder. Both area can be used for large group, so you don't have to worry if you bring your friends or families here. The foods are served on our table and we are free to choose anything we want. However, if your preference menu is not on the table, you can ask to the waiter directly about it. These are our review for the foods that we ordered: - Ayam pop: the chicken is very tender and the chili sauce was rich and it pairs perfectly with the chicken. - Ayam bakar: like usual roasted chicken in other Padang resto, nothing special, but the chicken is quite tender. - Telur dadar: Just okay. The portion is average and it's not too oily. - Sambal hijau: It isn't spicy at all (based on our preference). - Ayam gulai: The chicken is tender and the sauce is balance and tasty. Overall it's recommended, but you still can find another Padang resto with more affordable price with similar taste!

One of the best Nasi Padang in town! It's a legendary Nasi Padang from located in the center Jakarta. They really nailed the beef here. I personally love the rendang, sop iga, ayam pop and telur barendo! - Rendang has a very soft texture - Sop iga, the meat just falls off from the bone not overcooked at all. With a very tasteful broth - ayam pop, i haven't found other contender so far - telur barendo, very crispy outside yet still creamy inside. Not the pancake type telur dadar. I really like their Es Campur too! Not to sweet with generous amount of toppings. During lunch at workday, the restaurant will be filled with a lot of corporate workers. All of the waiters are friendly, accomodating. They seems very eager and happy to work there! One of the best restaurant atmosphere. Its also amazing how they keep everything so well arranged, from ordering to payment.
