Tried Pondok Sate Djono Jogja Pejompongan recently and really enjoyed it. Ordered 10 skewers of mixed lamb satay with fat, rice, and iced unsweetened tea — simple combination, but very satisfying. The satay was juicy, smoky, and full of flavor, especially with the balance between the tender meat and the rich fat. The seasoning had that classic Javanese-style sweetness and savory depth without being overwhelming. Paired perfectly with warm rice and a refreshing iced tea. Comforting, flavorful, and definitely a great spot if you’re craving authentic Indonesian lamb satay in Jakarta.
View on GoogleThick satay! Delicious, recommend place to eat. But near a small canal, many mosquitoes 😆
View on GoogleThe texture of the satay varies, some are soft and juicy, some are a little chewier... similar to life, which is not always smooth yet we can still enjoy it. In general, for me it is delicious, and the seasoning and doneness are just right.
View on GoogleFood was so tasty! Especially chicken satay and fried tofu (tahu sumedang). We also tried karedok and tongseng kambing. It was a little pricey, but worth it.
View on GoogleIf you like kambing and innards cut, also do not need a 5-star resto vibes, this is one of a place to go to. From my perspective, this is one of the best lamb satay in Jakarta, in terms of taste and portion. However, the place can be categorized in more expensive price range. I ordered: 1. Lamb satay: The cut is quite big but still tender. Around 200K for 25 satay (8K each). There is a big fatty cut in the middle (gajih/tetelan). 2. Lamb Head Soup: Similiar to common light goat soup, but replace the meat with meat and innard from a Goat Head. If you do not like jeroan (innard), maybe can skip this. The broth is delicious and a good combination of goat broth and light seasoning, suitable to complement the rice and soy souce. 3. Tahu sumedang: just a regular deep fried brown tofu served with spicy soy sauce. The restaurant itself is quite hot, no air conditioning available. The barbeque smoke can get inside so be prepared to smell like smoke after you get out. Find out more at Instagram: - @serial.eater: curated foodies guide - @kitatamasya: travel and lifestyle
