Museum MH. Thamrin is a deeply profound, beautifully preserved cultural landmark that offers visitors an enchanting and highly educational journey into the life, struggle, and monumental legacy of Mohammad Husni Thamrin—a legendary national hero of Jakarta and the Betawi people. Housed within a majestic historic building that originally served as a horse stable and warehouse before becoming an iconic political meeting place for national freedom fighters, the museum itself is a stunning piece of colonial-era architectural heritage. Inside, the exhibition halls are meticulously curated, clean, and well-lit, showcasing a vast array of authentic historical artifacts, rare vintage photographs, personal belongings, and interactive dioramas that vividly tell the story of Jakarta’s socio-political evolution toward Indonesian independence. The ambient atmosphere inside the museum is remarkably peaceful and contemplative, allowing history lovers, students, and tourists to absorb the rich narratives without the rush of typical crowded commercial zones. The museum staff and local tour guides deserve immense praise for their exceptional hospitality; they are profoundly passionate, eloquent, and eager to share captivating historical insights that truly bring the exhibits to life. With highly affordable entry tickets, a beautifully maintained historical garden, and spotless facilities, Museum MH. Thamrin stands out as an invaluable educational treasure and an absolute five-star destination for anyone looking to connect deeply with the heroic spirit of Jakarta's history.
View on Googleit was clean and quite well kept. they only have a limited number of collection, mainly related to Betawi figure MH Thamrin, but i saw some collection about Ismail Marzuki and WR Soepratman. i think you can see all the collection in less than 2 hours. if you are not fluent in Bahasa Indonesia, you definitely need assisted/guided tour because the information on the collection mainly in Bahasa Indonesia, but there are some that have explanation in English. went here for a children event where they acted like Investigative Journalist, a good initiatives to trigger children’s interest in history. please make more varied program/activities, maybe ones that related to Mr Thamrin role in Persija, Flood Management, etc.
View on GoogleGreat museum but the street was smalll😭
View on GoogleThe museum is very underrated because the place is quite hidden in the middle of the settlement. For easy reference, at the highway you turn left after Kenari Market. In this museum you can learn the story of MH Thamrin and Jakarta, and another of the local Heroes of Betawi (Jakarta). Also, they have collections of traditional musical instruments from Betawi. And the place is really clean and air-conditioned. Entrance fee is cheap and they give you free CD's about MH Thamrin. Outside the museum there is a large garden to chill in the afternoon, so it would be cozy for the visitors. Hope more visitors will come.
View on GoogleThe location is a little bit hidden (in the middle of settlements) but it has a great and important story along the way to the independence of Indonesia from the story of well known national Indonesian hero and one of Soekarno's bestfriend, Muhammad Husni Thamrin. You can learn the story of MH Thamrin and also learn about Betawi (Jakartan well known tribe, also being the identity of MH Thamrin). The place is really clean and air conditioned, so it would be cozy for the visitors. The access to this place is maybe a little bit hard because the road is narrow.
