Imperial Shanghai transforms into a lively, upscale dining destination in the evening. It’s the perfect place to unwind over a spread of high-quality Shanghainese comfort food. Must-Order: You cannot leave without trying the scrambled eggs with prawns. They are incredibly silky, flavorful, and arguably the most delicious version of this dish in Jakarta. Dumpling Feast: Their great variety of dumplings makes it fun to order a bunch for the table to share. Each one is a little pocket of perfection.

This restaurant renders excellent service. The staff are attentive and efficient. If you come during fasting month (Ramadhan), they provide you something sweet for free to break your fast. They have policy not to serve Chinese tea after 5pm during Ramadhan, I don't know why. The sauteed baby bamboo shoot and jellyfish with scallion are enjoyable entrees. Sauteed egg with prawns us the best, it compliment their fried rice and lamien (noodle soup) perfectly. Their lamian with sliced beef and Sichuan pepper is delicious though fire hot. Lou han guo with pearl is a very nice drink that is good to soothe your sore throat. Payment can be made in cash, with card or qris.

I was extremely disappointed with the service yesterday and found the servers to be very rude. I specifically asked them in Indonesian to bring the appetizer first and not to bring the meat dishes without the rice, I asked the waiter that either the rice needs to come before or with the meat dishes. So what did they do? They bring the meat dish first. Then several minutes later the rice. Then another meat dish. Then finally the appetizer. And of course, our waiter was nowhere to be found. So then I asked for a manager. Then they come, and they start gaslighting me that it was because the meat takes longer to cook. But we had specifically discussed that with the waiter and told him that it’s ok if the chicken dish takes longer, but the other stuff needs to come first . But I told him then why did you confirm about the sequence when I did the order? They were extremely rude. They did not accept their own mistake. Additionally, after that, whenever a server would come to the table for example, when they asked us for the last order, they completely ignored me and didn’t look at me. I wasn’t even rude to them. I didn’t raise my voice. In fact, I showed them the polite message in writing so that there was no misunderstanding. I have brought associates, friends, and family members to this restaurant over the years. I feel completely disrespected, embarrassed in front of my guest, and will never recommend this restaurant again. Arrogant and condescending mindset of the staff. Also, look carefully, every time they get a bad review a few fake ones show up on this page… instead of owning their mistakes and taking accountability they prefer to cover it up with some fake reviews. That tells you everything. Honestly the food is good but the service is bad, the service needs to be fair to the people working hard in the kitchen to make this good food instead of being so unreasonable.

Imperial Shanghai Lamian & Xiao Long Bao is a popular restaurant known for its hand-pulled noodles and soup dumplings, offering comforting flavors of traditional Shanghainese cuisine. As someone from Shanghai, I’m genuinely impressed — their dishes taste surprisingly authentic and really capture the flavors of home.

It’s probably been 10 or 15 years since I last ate here — and it’s still as popular as ever! Located inside Plaza Indonesia, this restaurant is always busy. The food? Delicious. The menu? Tons of variety. The prices? Surprisingly affordable! Perfect spot for celebrating birthdays or gathering with friends. Highly recommended!
