Notable museum featuring exhibits on the life, works & career of Great General Abdul Haris Nasution.

A museum of revolutionary history, the history of the kidnapping of 7 generals and 1 adjutant (First Lieutenant Pierre Tendean), and this is one of the residences of the generals targeted by the Cakrabirawa.

The Grand General Dr. AH Nasution Museum is a deeply poignant, extraordinarily historic, and emotionally moving biographical sanctuary located within the quiet, upscale residential corridor of Menteng. Housed completely inside the original, stately mid-century residence of General Abdul Haris Nasution, this site stands as a vital and sacred historical monument commemorating the tragic, heroic events of the night of September 30, 1965 (G30S/PKI), when elite rogue forces attacked the house in a high-profile assassination attempt. General Nasution miraculously survived the assault, but the event tragically claimed the life of his beloved young daughter, Ade Irma Suryani Nasution, and his loyal adjutant, Captain Pierre Tendean. The museum management has done an exceptional, five-star job maintaining the absolute structural and historical authenticity of the residence, preserving the exact layout of the house just as it was on that fateful night. Visitors can see the original, chilling bullet holes tearing through bedroom walls and doors, left completely untouched to serve as a stark, powerful reminder of the raw historical tragedy. The rooms are filled with lifelike, highly detailed wax figures that dramatically reconstruct the critical moments of the attack, creating an intensely immersive, solemn educational experience that evokes deep empathy and historical reflection. The remaining wings of the beautiful residence showcase an extensive, meticulously organized collection of General Nasution's personal belongings, including his prestigious military uniforms, historic medals of honor, private writing desks, extensive personal libraries, and rare historical photographs mapping out his monumental contributions to forming the military doctrine of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI). The museum grounds feature a quiet, beautifully manicured garden and a deeply moving memorial dedicated to young Ade Irma Suryani. The local military guides on-site handle tours with incredible respect, historical accuracy, and dignity, making a visit to the Grand General Dr. AH Nasution Museum a deeply memorable and transformative historical pilgrimage.

If you have spesific interest in learning about Indonesia history, I would likely recommend you to visit at least once a lifetime here. This is a house of one most famous heroic story. When you come in between 10 to 1 pm you will get a full experience of learning because even on public holiday, its not crowded. They have good parking space and many years ago during holiday seasons, me and my family got the opportunities to have a tour guide, provided by the museum for tourist to learn much better about the history behind all of that.

A place frozen in time. They put some figures to depict the fateful day almost 50 years ago and not gonna lie, the figures are very much well made. It's a nice place to visit while looking at all the furnitures, pics, and other stuffs used by the grand general himself. The museum keeper was friendly and all smiles. The place is well kept and cool. The ex guards area now is a small coffee place.

A very important museum in the political and military history of Indonesia. A very dark and bloody history. Leaving a very long stigma and trauma. This museum is a reminder, so that the Indonesian people remain united and strong.

Small museum, about general Abdul Harris Nasution's life and G30S PKI kidnapping plot that happened in this house on 30th September 1965. Entry is free, parking for car is easy, and there is tour guide to explain the items inside. Very well maintained, with life size diorama to show what happened on that fateful night. Interesting for local visitor to learn about our politic history. Some diorama and showcase could be too creepy for sensitive person, but still recommended for short day visit.
