Authentic Old Japan Vibe in the Heart of Cikini. I recently took my family to Kikugawa for dinner, and it was quite the experience. My wife recognized the place, but the entrance has actually moved to the back now, which was a little confusing at first, but the restaurant itself is still very easy to find. The facade immediately sets the mood. it’s located in a quiet area and the traditional japanese bridge, stonework, and bamboo accents really transport you back in time. It honestly felt like stepping into a scene from Assassin's Creed Shadows with that old-school Japanese aesthetic. Between the authentic logo and the traditional sliding doors, the attention to detail is great. Once inside, the service is easily the highlight. We chose to sit on the tatami to get the full experience, and my kids absolutely loved it. The staff is incredibly professional and decent; the way the waitresses move and serve feels very traditional (almost like they are gliding rather than walking) which adds to the homey, authentic atmosphere. They were very attentive to our needs and handled our orders perfectly. As for the food, the presentation is "bare" and simple, but the taste is amazingly good. Everyone in the family genuinely enjoyed their meal. While the prices aren't exactly cheap, I feel it’s a fair trade-off for the quality of the ingredients and the overall experience. The only minor downside was the smoking area on the outside; it was quite dark and there were a lot of mosquitoes, so it wasn't the most comfortable spot to linger. Overall, though, it’s a beautiful, quiet spot for an authentic family dinner.

I had a really enjoyable meal at Kikugawa Restaurant. The Ume set stood out right away, and the sukiyaki was the dish I liked most. I also appreciated that the chicken nanban wasn’t too heavy, since the sweet sauce added flavor without overpowering it. It was a solid, satisfying visit, and I’d happily come back.

Apparently this is the oldest japanese restaurant in jakarta, so it caught my interest. Personally I like how they offer mostly set menus, makes it easier to decide on a meal. Also yes, i'd say the place felt pretty authentic. Not just the menus, but also the opening hours, how they would close at 14.30 and open again in the evening. Such a japanese restaurant thing to do. We tried the gindara teriyaki set + yakitori, and the beef teriyaki set. All good! And at a very good price too, considering this is located at the heart of jakarta. Will definitely come again to try their other menus.

Food never dissapoints. Great ambience. Clean toilets. Moderate wait time. Parking is a bit limited. They served free watermelon after your meal which is nice.

Oldest japan restaurant in Jakarta Food is delicious especially sashimi but they have sweet-kind-a taste. Still delicious though. Suitable place for family gathering
