The hits: dancing fried gurame, grilled fish, the veges (pakis, kangkung). Been coming here since I was a little kid, 30 years later and it is still as delicious as ever. The prices are reasonable and the servers are attentive and kind. Highly recommmend Pondok Laguna if you’re craving seafood in Central Jakarta. This place won’t disappoint.

famous restaurant, clearly popular with tourists. They really know how to handle visitors well, menu has pictures, they give recommendations, and understand that we may not know how to order Indonesian dishes properly. Service is quite fast. Taste is good, and price is reasonable. There is no air-conditioning, so you may feel quite hot, especially after a long walk in the heat and eating spicy food.

My go-to spot for fresh gurame and shrimps. Tried the salted egg yolk prawns for the first time, was not disappointed ! Price is fair for the quality of food they offer. One thing I don’t like is how the staff will stare at the diners while they are eating , it makes me a little uncomfortable. Expect long waits during dinner time.

Must Try: Tahu Kipas 👍👍 Well made Indonesian Seafood, particularly their famous Gulai Kepala Ikan—tender and flavorful. Other recommended dishes: Cumi Bakar, Ikan Gurame. Tahu Kipas filling has shrimp, carrot and vegetable. Exterior is crunchy and the filling is full and delicious. The sambal sauce on the side is more watery and sweet. The ambience has this classic Indonesian house feel—wooden furniture and a small fountain and pond with fishes. The employees are attentive and hospitable, recommends and describes the menu very well.
