I love this museum, more so than the BI museum more actually. First of all the building features an art deco design which i absolutely adore, lots of symetry on the exterior and a really sophisticated interior, very much like Gringotts in Harry Potter. I especially love the interior design, staircases (and pillars) of marble lead into a cool atrium; the lobby and the cashiers. There is a cafe and a little reading corner with very quaint furniture, a neat area to spend your time after exploring the grounds. The windows and shutters are also still original and are very satisfying to interact with as you twist a knob to unlatch the windows. There are also lots of alcoves that line the hallways of the bank, which is one of the other striking features of the interior design. A very cozy and welcoming sight to me. Most striking of all however are the tinted glass that adorn the staircase up to the second floor, easily one of the biggest highlights of the museum. The glass represents the 4 seasons and the first landing of the dutch in Indonesia. On evenings, the sunlight shines through the glass and colour the floor in rainbows. An awesome sight. The museum itself offers plenty of information. There are lots of gizmos and gadgets on display that assists the daily operation of the bankers. History of the Nederlandsche Handels Maatschappij, its banks, and the the banks of indonesia. History on the museum itself; the formation, the building materials, and as well as the function of the different rooms. And there lies a safe collection in the basement of the museum. The only reason I'm giving the museuk a 4 star however is bevause of the delapidation iccuring in the more obscure parts of the museum, namely the 3rd floor above, the rear end by the river and the basement. Just because they aren't the star focus of the museum does not mean they should be left to rot. The walls are dirty, the tiles are cracked, the restrooms are especially filthy and the overall area just appears rather desolate. A real shame in an otherwise fine museum Nevertheless i absolutely recommend a visit here, this is one of the finest buildings in Jakarta
View on Googleaffordable entrance ticket (as it should). it’s far improved compared to the last time i was here. could’ve been more informative esp about the floor plan, though. but overall it was very nice!
View on GoogleA visit to Museum Mandiri was a really interesting experience. The building has a lot of elegance and feels worth seeing even if you only stop by once. It also seems like a place children could enjoy, with enough to keep them curious while you take in the atmosphere.
View on GoogleHas a huge collection of antique banking equipments, banknotes, and coins, financial records, etc. The architecture of the building is very beautiful. Too bad it isn't wheelchair friendly (it has one elevator but it's super old and kinda scary to take). The building is also super huge which makes it kind of like a maze; map or direction board would make it better. There are many restaurants, coffee shops, and a spacious and very clean praying room. Overall, a really nice experience. Security staff is mean tho, idk what's gotten into him. Like bro, this is my first time visiting here, no need to be rude 🤦
View on GoogleSurprisingly good for a private museum. It literally tells the story from the period of the Dutch East Indies to how the banking sector developed with all the predecessors that later formed Bank Mandiri. It's like the bank building remains frozen in time as you can see they original tills and desks, and walk through the safes and see the safety deposit boxes, historic stock certificats, and banknotes.
