It was great! But it is like more reading stuff and if you are interested in history - this might grasp your attention. It's not about only bank - it's like history of Indonesia that shaped the Bank Indonesia. Must visit to understand why the RP has got high denominations - every thing explained. Ticket price as well pretty reasonable. RP 5000 8/9/2026

One of iconic museum in Jakarta. As a Numismatist who love history and collect coins and banknotes. The museum is perfect to learn Indonesia's economic reform from independence to modern day. To enter you only need to pay a small fee (I can't remember, under RP 5,000.00). And I highly suggest to come early in the morning as it will get busy around midday and trust me you don't want it. When you enter the 1st section is the colonial era of trade and history around Nusantara. 2nd section is the history of indonesia economic. And then you go upstairs for a temporary exhibition of available. And then 3rd section my favourite section, the coins and notes of Nusantara / Indonesia. It ranges from the Empire of Nusantara Islands to Batavia and modern day Jakarta. The collections are massive, also they include international currency (there were mistake of the country's currency on some of the galleries). Still the Indonesian notes were my favourite, heaps of specimen notes and they structure it perfectly. I wouldn't say it's the most perfect collection but still it's a lot and still incredible especially the Netherlands East Indies collection, the holy grail of all banknotes around the globe. A d then afterwards a bit of history about the musuem itself, and merchandise at the end. Not sure about any guided tour, but check the website for more information.

probably the best among all museums in the area (there are 5-6 museums nearby!) and worth the price soooo much! it was IDR 5k for local. we had to put our bags and beverages into the locker, but we could still bring our essentials inside (they also provided a bag if you need it). i like the flow of the museum, it’s very organized. and the air circulation was also good (read: good AC lol). and they also have a souvenir shop. and the staffs & security were very helpful and kind. overall it’s very nice!

Well worth a visit. For the tourists - Bank Indonesia is Indonesia's central bank and the museum building is the old building of De Javasche Bank - the first bank in Java - which became Bank Indonesia after independence. The exhibits are visually appealing and bring you back to the colonial era with wax figures and antique furniture. There's a lot of information about Indonesia's history - from Dutch rule to Japanese occupation to Soekarno's rise and subsequent economic mismanagement to Soeharto's rise and fall with the Asian financial crisis of 1997-1998. Political history intertwined with a deep look at how Indonesia's financial system has evolved to the present day. There's an interesting numismatic collection. Tickets are cheap - 5000 Rp even if you're a foreigner.
