Another comfort food that was completely new to me was Yang's Braised Chicken Rice. I'd been curious about this place for quite a while, so I was excited to finally give it a try. One thing I like is that it's very casual—you help yourself to the rice and utensils, which makes the whole experience feel quick and efficient. Besides their signature Braised Chicken, I was also curious about Suan Cai Yu (酸菜鱼). I've always wanted to try this famous Sichuan dish, but most restaurants only serve it in huge portions. Here, the portion was much more manageable, and the price was surprisingly affordable, so we ended up ordering both. 🐟 Suan Cai Yu was the biggest surprise of the meal. The broth was refreshingly tangy with a gentle spicy kick, the fish was incredibly tender and had no fishy smell at all, and everything came together beautifully. I can totally understand why this dish has become so popular. 🍗 The Braised Chicken was my first time trying this style of chicken as well. The meat was super tender, soaking up the rich, savory braising sauce, making it perfect to eat with a bowl of rice. It's simple comfort food, but done really well. Honestly, I walked in feeling curious and left genuinely impressed. I wasn't expecting to enjoy both dishes this much. The only sad part? I just found out that the Lippo Mall Nusantara branch has already closed. 🥲 Now the remaining outlets are quite far from where I live, which is a shame because this is definitely a place I'd love to revisit. Finally tried the trending Braised Chicken and Rice in the Tanjung Duren area! The aroma hits you the moment you walk in. The chicken is incredibly tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The braised sauce is the perfect balance of savory and subtly sweet, with just the right thickness when mixed with warm rice. The biggest plus point is that the rice is self-service (all-you-can-take) and already included in the price, so there are no extra charges if you want a refill. It’s an absolute winner for big eaters. Highly recommended!
