My cousin who lives in Bali told me about this place after seeing it on youtube. So, got my GPS on and off we go since we are not quite familiar with the area. Good thing of coming here early in the morning is that the menu are still complete. So we ordered mixed empal gentong with meat, tripes, lungs, gravel and tongue. I first tasted the broth and immediately loved the taste. It's just have the right ingredients mixed together accordingly. But I of course add some chilly powder to add some spicy flavor. The traditional potato cakes are also tasty and two is still not enough. Since it tasted good and quite far from where we live, we ordered 4 more portions to take away. Not only the food is good, but payment can also be made by Qris other than hard cash, although they charge you Rp. 2,000 more. Don't know why. As for price wise, Rp. 20,000 per portion is considerately cheap. Highly recommended.

Empal gentong consists of beef and beef offal cooked in a yellow spiced coconut milk sauce. Empal gentong existed around the 15th century AD. The existence of this dish comes from folklore in Cirebon. “The processing of empal gentong uses firewood from certain types of trees. Then also use a barrel, so it is called empal gentong, Until now there is no story that says which part of Cirebon the empal gentong comes from. In the past, empal gentong used to be made using buffalo meat, because for the people of Cirebon who are still Hindu, beef is considered sacred meat. So that in the 15th century, buffalo meat was used, which is still possible to consume," The name Empal Gentong is indeed in accordance with the main ingredient of this soup dish from Cirebon. The name empal indicates the main ingredient is beef with a little fat. While the term barrel to indicate the cooking process using a cauldron or clay pot. The term empal in Cirebon is curry, not gepuk or jerky. It is called so because it is cooked for at least five hours in a barrel or cauldron using a special fuel, namely wood from the tamarind tree. This is to create the taste and level of tenderness of the meat. How to cook with this cauldron has been done for generations. A clay container that has been in use for years will give a touch of unmatched delicious taste. Of course because the spice crust has settled in the pores of the clay. Empal Gentong Juara Empang Grogol is located near Lake Grogol, food is served in a simple cart. The meat and tendons are tender, juicy and delicious! Spices are delicious and make me hungry
View on GoogleFound this by accident, thru google maps's restaurant near me feature. Convinced with the rating, turned out the good rating speaks for itself. The sambal was very simple, a chili powder. But somehow it combines really well with the soup, making it super delicious! The place is also clean and comfy for an outdoor, road-side food stall style. Definitely will come back when I'm around the area again. P.S.: you can also pay with QRIS!
