Very disappointing experience. Visited with my wife and daughter. No entrance fee to the palace, and it was surely once majestic but is now very poorly maintained with garbage and various domestic items strewn across the pavilions. Furniture and decorations damaged more often than not. Bathroom was disgusting. In the plus side, we were the only tourists in the entire complex. One of the low points was a local lady who led us to meet with the “King” of this region, who was an old man eating inside of one of the pavilions. He spoke with us for about 30 seconds asking where we were from and introducing himself as the head of the royal family before asking us to “do him a favor” and give him 200k Rupiah to help pay for his helpers to sweep the grounds. I didn’t appreciate this request and although I would certainly have paid for a ticket to contribute to the upkeep, being asked in this manner was unnerving and unwelcome. Begging foreigners for money is rather undignified behavior from this King!!

View on GoogleMagnificent local palace. This building have been there since 1670s and a lot of famous visitors come by in the past, like david bowie, mick jagger and many others! If you are in Tabanan, make sure to check out!
View on GoogleThis is the house of the Royal Family of Kerambitan or can be called Puri Anyar Palace. The uniqueness of this complex lies in its architectural design that makes it different from the houses of common people. The owner of the palace has given permission to open the palace for foreign tourists for more than three decades. The tourists are offered with cultural performances and attraction. By soing so, the Royal family in Kerambitan has played important role in the preservation of Balinese culture, art and tradition, especially the unique dance of Okokan which is combined with the classic Calon Arang performance.
