Perfect for going diving or snorkeling here. Just ask in any of your hotels/hostels. It's necessary to go there by boat since the place is inaccessible from the land. For me the price was 350k for one person and it's a bit of a "very bumpy" boat ride from the harbours in the North (around 45-60 minutes). There's also another point called Manta Bay, where there's less chances of seeing them but boat excursions there only cost 250k. I personally think this particular spot is overcrowded to the detriment of the Manta rays there because it's a cleaning station for them where they go to get their dead skin eaten off by small fishes from the reef. That's why they come up to the surface on the rock there. But there's about 50-100 people in the water *just above that rock*. The mantas didn't seem to mind ... all that much ... Honestly? But then who knows what's going on in the minds of these gentle giants and if they are mightily annoyed by all of us going there to see them in the equivalent of their "shower" so to speak. Usually you won't get a lot of time in the water, maybe 15-20 minutes because the tours go for three hours and feel a bit rushed because they also go to usually 1 other point like Gamat Bay.
View on GoogleThis is the most worthwhile trip on the island you can possibly do. I was a bit apprehensive because of the other reviews about the quality of the roads on the way to Manta Point but apart from a few pot holes only slightly bigger than the ones we endure in the UK the drive isn’t that bad. You’ll need some confidence and some decent avoidance with the pot holes but it’s 100% doable for someone who isn’t an experienced rider. You pull up to a little shack on your right hand side, thinking, was this worth it? You walk down about 10 metres and then it hits you… wow. The best thing? It’s too far away, too much hard work and inaccessible to the TikTok / instagram mutants who are like parasites to all the amazing tourist spots. I’ve been traveling south east Asia for 3 months and this is by a country mile the best spot. If you’re thinking should we? Then do it. You’ll be the only person there, looking down at mantas in the most incredible view. It’s a pinch me moment. Some of the videos I’ve uploaded are drone footage, some are phone footage. Enjoy
View on GoogleI did snorkelling with my hotel. The tour including manta point and Gamat bay. And I saw a huge manta once we jump into the water. It’s like more than 2meters long and “flying” slowly in the ocean! I was thrilled and I saw it 3 times! So if you want to have higher possibility to see manta, don’t go to manta bay, go here instead. The only down fault is that last night there was heavy rain on the island, so the water is not very clear. The boat trip is quite bumpy! I mean seriously bumpy. I feel like I was riding an rollercoaster 🤣 so for me it’s fun, but not for everyone. The boat offer you water and snorkelling equipment for free, but you bring your own towel, and sunscreen. Do wear shoes for walking inside coral ocean. The harbour before you get on the boat is full with corals, could be quite poky! Also, the tour including go pro footages for you for free. You can negotiate transportation price tho.
View on GoogleThis spot is an absolute gem! The sunset here is beautiful and offers a perfect golden hour. The sunlight reflecting on the abandoned temple is magical! We were alone for a long time before some people joined, so it was very quiet. There are two wooden seats at the edge of the cliff where you can enjoy the sea view. We didn’t get the chance to see manta rays, but the view is definitely worth it!
View on GoogleThis viewpoint is spectacular. Anyone mentioning snorkelling or scuba diving is commenting on the wrong area. This is only a viewpoint. It looks pretty abandoned and the safety barriers are not really fit for purpose. We saw many huge turtles coming up for air but no manta rays. The road is ok from the north west and a bit sketchy from the opposite direction. Truly spectacular views, take some food and have a packed lunch.
