From the moment I arrived at Ruma Roda, I felt completely at home thanks to the warm, loving family and wonderful staff who run this place. Their kindness and genuine hospitality make you feel more like a welcomed guest than a customer. The location is absolutely perfect. It is right in the heart of the city, yet surprisingly peaceful and quiet. Despite being so central, you don’t hear the noise from outside, making it a wonderful place to relax after a busy day exploring. The layout of the property is charming and cozy, with a lovely swimming pool that creates a calm and inviting atmosphere. Everything feels intimate, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed. And I have to mention the breakfast: the banana pancakes were quite simply the best I have ever had. They were absolutely delicious and became one of the highlights of my stay. If you are looking for a place with a great location, a peaceful atmosphere, and genuinely caring people, I highly recommend Ruma Roda. It is one of those special places that makes you feel at home from the very first moment.
View on GoogleGreat location. Breakfast ok but on the small size. The familial room has a terrible bathroom. Dirty, lot of mold, smelly. Bed comfy. It’s a real homestay, lot of people here but you never know who is working here or not. Sometimes you stay at the counter and nobody comes even if there are people around. The owner? (older man) is very nice and helpful. Bad experience with driver (a member of the family?) who was so anxious and driving so bad.

View on GoogleAs a solo female traveler, I think it’s important to share this so others can make informed decisions and stay aware. During my stay, I had an uncomfortable experience with a staff member that made me feel unsafe and uneasy. While I won’t go into full detail, his behavior crossed personal boundaries in ways that felt inappropriate. From my experience, this did not feel like a one-off interaction but rather a pattern in how he approaches solo female guests. He may offer to take you on trips (like to a waterfall), insist on taking photos of you, or create repeated opportunities to be around you—such as coming unnecessarily close in shared spaces like the restaurant. He might also try to build personal familiarity quickly, for example by playing guitar for you, giving you extra attention, or asking you to spend time with him outside of work hours, including at night. The overall dynamic felt like excessive attention and boundary-pushing that came across as manipulative rather than professional. It’s important to be aware that this behavior can feel like “kindness” or hospitality at first, but may escalate into something uncomfortable. Trust your instincts—if something feels off, take distance and maintain firm boundaries. The place itself may be fine for some, but based on my experience, I would strongly advise solo female travelers to stay alert and cautious.
View on GoogleNice guesthouse, local style. Clean stylish rooms. Very close to the Ubud center (10 min. walk) but enough apart to avoid noise and crowds. Close to the rice field with nice Sweet Orange restaurant. Great location for stay in Ubud, walking distance to all attractions and monuments.
