We had a wonderful lunch here! The Indonesian food was absolutely excellent, and the entire setting is stunning. The restaurant is designed like a beautiful, garden complete with lovely fish ponds that make for an incredibly peaceful ambiance. Our son completely loved feeding the fish and roaming around the gorgeous garden paths, which kept him happily entertained. The staff were also very courteous and welcoming to our family. It is a fantastic place to relax and enjoy an authentic meal in the heart of Ubud. Highly recommended!

We recently spent 25 nights in Ubud staying at the Komaneka across the road from Cafe Wayan. We ate there frequently (once twice in one day). The food is wonderful, ranging from traditional Balinese and Indonesian to international. The cooking school is brilliant (we first attended a class there 15 years ago) and again this year. The chefs provide food which is unpretentious, beautiful to look at and delicious to eat. The setting in the garden is magical. Our dining adventures here extend over nearly three decades and we can’t wait to come back. Jim&John

We booked the cooking class on a whim after seeing the sign out the front and we were so glad that we did! The set up is fantastic in the garden at the back of the restaurant. The staff were all lovely and helpful and the food that we cooked was delicious. We got to eat at a beautiful table in the garden and it was so pretty. I can't wait to get home and cook the recipes we learnt for our family and friends.

Visited there in August 2025. Here’s what we ordered at Cafe Wayan & Bakery:
Papaya juice 45,000 × 2
Cola 25,000
Nasi campur 75,000 × 2
Tagliatelle with tomato sauce 65,000
Chocolate mousse cake 50,000
The total came to 459,800 rupiah including tax and service charge. It had been a while since our last visit, but Cafe Wayan was just as lovely as ever, with lush greenery and a calm, relaxing atmosphere. The fresh papaya juice was nicely chilled and delicious. The nasi campur tasted freshly made and came beautifully arranged, with rice surrounded by a variety of dishes like chicken curry, (mixed vegetables), chicken satay, corn fritters, boiled egg, tempe (similar to fried tofu), and grilled chicken. As always, it was incredibly good. For me, it’s the most satisfying nasi campur in Bali—thanks to the variety of side dishes, the quality of the rice, the beautiful presentation, the flavor, and the reasonable price. And being able to enjoy it in such a lush, green setting makes it even better. My daughter ordered the pasta, which had thick noodles, and she loved it—she ate more than two-thirds of it (and the rest was finished by the adults). To finish, we had the chocolate mousse cake, which was rich and absolutely delicious. I used to think Massimo had the best chocolate cake in Bali, but now I might like Cafe Wayan’s chocolate mousse cake even more. I’m so happy that this favorite restaurant of mine is still open after the covid. The garden is beautiful, so I especially recommend visiting there during the daytime.

I am posting this in real time as I cannot describe the beauty of this place and the delicious food. I entered thinking I will just have a coffee and a small pastry or cake 🤭 The papaia chicken salad and the Thai spring rolls are a must have if you want a fast served, refreshing, easy and healthy late lunch. And the interior garden…is an extraordinary, peaceful, and beautiful place, which makes you stay forever.
